Woodstock is at the intersections of Route 112, Route 3 and I-93. The town is on the East Branch of the Pemigewassett River, just south of the town of Lincoln
, and not to be confused with the 'other' famous Woodstock. That famous gathering in the late 60's was held in New York, while NH remained unaffected.
Mirror Lake offers swimming and ice fishing and boasts a popular town beach. A little known resource in Woodstock is Hubbard Brook , a 300 acre forest designated for the study of ecosystems.
The facility has many kiosks that include vast amounts of data for scientists. Hubbard Brook also arranges educational programs for grades K-12 as part of its outreach initiative.
While in town be sure to visit Fadden's General Store & Sugarhouse at 109 Main Street. It will nostalgically transport you back to the 1940's and '50s, before the era of big box stores and mega-malls. Owner Jim Fadden, has a sliver of Barnum-esque showmanship. The wall decorations hail from bygone days, and the merchandise selection alone are worth the visit. Be certain to visit during Maple Weekend when their sugar house is boiling.
The Woodstock Inn and Brewery offers a Victorian Style Bed and Breakfast, a micro brewery, lively restaurant and pub. Peg's Restaurant on Main Street offers hearty breakfasts and lunches at reasonable prices. Truant's Tavern on Main Street offers pub fare.
Additional lodging in Woodstock includes the modest and homey, like the Autumn Breeze Motor Lodge , 183 Main Street in North Woodstock and the Carriage Motel at 180 Main Street. The Meadow Lark Motor Court at 181 Daniel Webster Highway (Route 3) offers lodging at a convenient location. Additional dining and lodging are available in nearby Lincoln (about five miles).
