[6/2/18] - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) split a doubleheader with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets) Saturday at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, as the dropped the first game 6-5 but picked up a 3-0 win in the second tilt. GAME ONE
The Fisher Cats started the scoring with a pair of first inning tallies thanks to RBI singles from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Max Pentecost. Binghamton would tie the game in the third with two runs of their own. Both teams scored in the fourth. Doubles from Harold Ramirez and Andrew Guillotte made it 3-2 'Cats, though the Rumble Ponies would respond with two in the bottom of the inning go up 4-3.A two-out double by Jonathan Davis in the sixth helped New Hampshire retake the lead. Ramirez and Guillotte reached with singles before Davis' two-bagger plated both runners.Leading 5-4 to start the seventh, New Hampshire seemed poised to win game one. But a two out walk to pinch hitter Matt Oberste in the bottom of the frame started the Binghamton comeback, which continued with an infield single and another walk to load the bases. Jeff McNeil beat the shift with a groundball that would have normally been fielded by the shortstop but instead rolled into left field to plate two and give the Rumble Ponies a walk-off win. GAME TWO
The 'Cats struck first in the second tilt. Davis singled to start the game and Bichette followed with an RBI double to make it 1-0 after one.A two-run fourth proved to be unnecessary added insurance for New Hampshire, as starter T.J. Zeuch went the distance to earn a seven-inning complete game shutout to secure a 3-0 'Cats win and a doubleheader split. The series concludes with a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. New Hampshire newcomer Randy Pondler is set to make his Double-A debut and will oppose Binghamton right-hander Nabil Crismatt in game one at 1:05 p.m., while RHP Josh DeGraaf makes his third Fisher Cats start of the season against a yet-to-be-named Binghamton starter.
