Vladimir Guerrero Jr. breaks 37-game on base streak with 0-for-4.

Manchester, NH - Ryan Hissey broke a tie with his first home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Fisher Cats made it five straight with a 5-3 win over Portland on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Hissey homered off reliever Austin Maddox (L, 0-1), who was on an MLB rehab assignment, to put the Fisher Cats in front 4-3. Bo Bichette followed with a base hit, stole second and scored on a Gunnar Heidt sacrifice fly to give New Hampshire (33-18) an insurance run.

Kirby Snead (W, 2-1) worked two scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win. Justin Dillon, making his first start for New Hampshire, allowed two runs in six innings with four strike outs.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did not reach base for the first time since April 18, snapping a string of 37 consecutive games on base with his 0-for-4.

The Fisher Cats hit the board first in the bottom of the first inning. Aledmys Diaz, who is on an MLB rehab assignment, doubled to left center and Cavan Biggio drilled his 13th homer of the season to right field to make it 2-0.

Portland cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning. Chad De La Guerra singled, advanced to third on a double by Jantzen Witte, and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Josh Ockimey.

The Sea Dogs tied the game in the fourth. Deiner Lopez reached on a bunt single and eventually scored on a base hit by Danny Mars to make it 2-2.

Portland broke the tie in the top of the seventh inning. Mars walked, Jeremy Rivera singled and De La Guerra hit a sacrifice fly.

Connor Panas drew the Fisher Cats even at 3-3 when he homered off Maddox in the bottom of the seventh inning. Panas added a double and finished 2-for-3.

The series concludes with a matinee on Thursday morning at 11:35 a.m. The Fisher Cats and the NH College & University Council honors New Hampshire's Scholars at the ballpark. Join us during a pre-game ceremony to recognize these outstanding high school students.
