Rowley Spins Another Gem in 8-1 Fisher Cats Win!
Manchester, NH
(6/9/17) - Chris Rowley's most recent masterpiece led the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a convincing 8-1 win over the Akron Rubberducks on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.Rowley (W, 3-2), a former Army First Lieutenant now pitching in his second professional season, allowed only an RBI groundout over seven stellar innings, scattering three hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Rowley now has a 1.62 ERA, which leads the Eastern League since May 1.Akron scored in the second, but a wild third inning gave the Fisher Cats a 5-1 lead. Andrew Guillotte started the rally with a single and a stolen base, then came home on a single to center from Richard Urena. With the game tied 1-1, Danny Jansen drew a walk to put two men on base.Ryan McBroom then launched a deep fly ball to left, which Luigi Rodriguez caught at the wall for the second out. Mistakenly thinking the inning was over, Rodriguez tossed the ball into the stands beneath the Samuel Adams Brewhouse. Urena sprinted home to make it 2-1, and Jansen was awarded third base. From there, the Fisher Cats took full advantage of the blunder. Harold Ramirez doubled to plate Jansen, while Tim Lopes and Gunnar Heidt followed with back-to-back RBI singles to bring the lead to 5-1.Danny Jansen led off the fifth inning with his first Double-A homer, a screaming liner to left center, and it was 6-1. A pair of runs in the seventh came in on a wild pitch and another run-scoring single by Heidt, extending the cushion to 8-1. ►
