Five-run ninth stretches 'Cat's winning streak to four games!
Bowie, MD
- A five-run ninth inning propelled the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 9-5 win over the Bowie Baysox Friday night, securing their fourth consecutive win to tie a season-high winning streak.Trailing 5-3 to begin the eighth, Gunnar Heidt started the comeback with a two-out solo home run to cut the Baysox lead to one.In the ninth, Derrick Loveless kick-started the 'Cats with a lead-off walk. Jonathan Davis bunted him over to second and Richard Urena followed with a deep double to right that was nearly caught, allowing Loveless to advance just 90 feet to third base. After Danny Jansen was intentionally walked, Ryan McBroom flared a pop up into shallow right field that fell between two defenders, allowing the tying run to score in what became a 5-5 game. With the bases loaded and one out, Harold Ramirez stroked a single to right that plated a pair. In the subsequent rundown between first and second base, Ramirez hung in there long enough to allow McBroom to score on the play and Bowie failed to take care of Ramirez on the base paths. Heidt brought in the fifth run of the ninth with a two-out double later in the frame and the 'Cats led 9-5.Tim Mayza tossed scoreless ninth to secure the win for the Fisher Cats. Dusty Isaacs earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief in the eighth. The series continues Saturday night at Prince George's Stadium. ►
