Haverhill, NH

Haverhill is the country seat of Grafton County, and includes the villages of Woodsville, North Haverhill and Pike and is also home to Bedell Bridge State Historic Site , Black Mountain State Forest , Kinder Memorial Forest , and Upper Valley Stewardship Center's Wildlife Preserves .

Haverhill

When you first arrive in Haverhill, you immediately notice the Haverhill Common, a large town green surrounded by majestic old buildings. Set a little further back, on Court Street, is Alumni Hall , a notable performing arts venue, available for private function rentals.

North Haverhill

Haverhill has a historic plaque that honors Roger's Ranger's, a group of soldiers who destroyed the encampment at St. Francis, Quebec in 1759. They missed their rendezvous with a rescue party, and did not survive Indian attacks and harsh weather. Their bones were discovered by locals sometime later. This story of this ordeal was told in the film Northwest Passage (1940) starring Spencer Tracy.

The North Haverhill Fair in late July features up and coming singers in the folk and country categories. Events include a tractor pull, demolition derby, and livestock events. The 4-H events offer acknowledgment of youth achievements in agriculture and livestock.

Woodsville

The village is a big town for baseball: former pitchers Chad Paronto with the Baltimore Orioles, and Bob Smith, with Boston Red Sox were both natives.

Cottage Hospital is a modern facility serving the Upper Connecticut Valley.

Haverhill offers unexpected historical relevance and cultural events!
