Selecting The Right Skis
There are many types to choose from!
The choice of the right skis will depend on many factors, including your age and gender, location and your skiing ability. There are different types of skis and you should choose the one best suited your skiing style and needs.
Carving Skis - If you ski primarily on groomed slopes and frequently achieve high speed arcs, choose carving skis.
Freestyle Skis - Also known as twin-tips, freestyle skis are among the most widely used skis. They can be seen used by kids who like to do backwards skiing.
All-mountain Skis - A typical all-mountain ski will have medium-width waist, which can balance between soft snow and hard snow. It has medium radius for easier turning.
Powder Skis - These skis are designed for higher maneuverability and floatation in soft snow. They are relatively wider compared to all-mountain skis.
The other types of skis include big-mountain and alpine touring skis. The big-mountain ski is usually used by experts who want to speed through steeps. They are designed to handle more pressure. Alpine touring skis are relatively new and come with a wide range of ski gear.
Don't Forget Goggles and Helmets
Besides a fashion statement, good ski goggles can protect your eyes in cold winds. They can also help protect you from glare and UV rays.
Ski helmets are necessary to protect you from serious injury. They come in a variety of shapes and colors and can often compliment your skiing apparel. Try to find them locally so you can insure a proper fit.
