OSSIPEE, NH
- The N.H. Fish and Game Department's Ossipee Lake boat ramp has been refurbished and is fully open and free to the public. The facility is located on Pine River, about one mile south of the Lake. Vehicle access is from Route 25, about 0.4 mile east of the Route 16 intersection.
The original single-lane asphalt ramp was replaced with a double-lane ramp using a precast concrete-plank design and adding a removable floating dock system between the two ramps. A new timber-terraced gravel footpath leading to a non-motorized (cartop) boat access point was also created. Other improvements include a gravel access road and a parking lot for 30 vehicle-trailer tandems and 5 cartop spaces, including one trailered and one cartop space for recreationists with disabilities.
The addition of the concrete-plank ramps eliminated the erosive conditions at the former degraded ramp, which will improve the water quality at and around the launch area. Additionally, the construction and delineation of designated parking spaces will create areas for vehicle and trailer parking and reduce the need for the public to park in unauthorized areas.
New Hampshire's Public Boat Access Program is funded through boat registration fees and federal Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration funds. State General Funds are not used for boat access projects. N.H. Fish and Game's Facilities Construction and Lands Division acquires land for public water access sites, refurbishes existing sites, and builds new public boat access areas.
