Ah, the elusive moose!

Darker in color, and without the reflective eyes of a deer, people may not see a moose until they are very close. A usually shy animal, moose can be dangerous �" particularly males during mating season, and mothers with calves.

Early evening is the best time to witness moose in their natural state. There is some debate related to the habits of moose and their activities, but it is clear they are busiest at dawn and dusk.

For the general public, the use of spotlights to view wildlife is illegal. The tours are authorized to illuminated moose, so you'll be seeing something special.

The Town of Gorham's air-conditioned bus meets at the information booth on the Town Common in front of the visitors' information booth at 6:30 PM. The tours lasts for three hours, so parents are encouraged to prepare for the needs of small children. The admission is $25 for adults, children 5-12 $15, children 4 and under $5.

Dan's tours offer evening moose tours beginning at 6:30, at the intersection of Routes 16 & 2 in Gorham. Additional private more tours are available by appointment.
