Bitcoin ETFs spent most of July bleeding. Net outflows hit $265.4 million in the final session of the month on July 31, a brutal close to a period that saw the category lose billions in cumulative inflows. Then August arrived.

Over the first three trading days of August, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $626 million in net inflows, according to SoSoValue and Farside Investors data .

The three-day total represents the most sustained inflow momentum the category has seen since late July, and it arrived at a moment when the Fear and Greed Index was still sitting at 25, deep in extreme fear territory.

Day by day growth

August 3 brought $170.1 million across seven funds, no ETF recorded an outflow . BlackRock's IBIT led with $111.4 million, Fidelity's FBTC followed with $33.4 million, and Franklin Templeton's EZBC added $9.2 million.

August 5 was the strongest session of the three. Total inflows reached $244.4 million, the best single day since late July. BlackRock's IBIT accounted for $196.83 million, with offsetting outflows from smaller funds bringing the net figure to $244.4 million.

IBIT's three-day haul alone came to $479 million, lifting its cumulative net inflows to nearly $61 billion according to Farside Investors.

What it means

Bitcoin ETFs attracted $381.6 million in net inflows during the first two trading days of August, already surpassing the $172.43 million recorded over all of July. By the third trading day, cumulative inflows had climbed to $626 million.

Trending on TheStreet Roundtable:

Whether this marks a genuine reversal or a brief technical bounce is the question the market cannot answer yet.

The Fear and Greed Index has not moved. Bitcoin itself is trading at approximately $64,744, up 0.7% over 24 hours but still well below the $70,920 resistance level.

The money came back. Whether it stays is August's defining question.
