ARB holders only access Robinhood Chain's 10% revenue share indirectly through DAO governance, and much of the chain's trading activity appears speculative.

Arbitrum(CRYPTO:ARB) has risen 135% over the last month, compared to Ethereum's(CRYPTO:ETH) more modest 8%. Traders are linking this boost to Robinhood Chain, the blockchain developed by Robinhood( NASDAQ:HOOD ) that uses Arbitrum's technology and launched on July 1, 2026.
As of September 24, ARB is trading around $0.21 after a 12.3% drop that day, while ETH sits at $2,694. This raises the question: is Robinhood Chain driving Arbitrum's success, and how does this impact ARB holders?
Arbitrum Outperforms Optimism by 92% Over the Same Month
A portion of ARB's impressive gains is attributed to a general rally in Ethereum's layer-two networks, separate blockchains that handle transactions more affordably and send records back to Ethereum. For example, Optimism(CRYPTO:OP), a competing layer-two solution, saw a 22% increase during the same timeframe, despite having no connection to Robinhood.
A likely factor in this overall rally was the SEC's exemption issued on September 17, enabling certain venues to trade tokenized U.S. stocks on public blockchains. However, performance varied widely across networks, with Polygon(CRYPTO:POL) declining about 17.5% that month.
For perspective, a $1,000 investment a month ago would now be worth about $2,350 in ARB and $1,220 in OP, putting ARB ahead by about 92%. This suggests much of ARB's recent surge is tied to developments within Arbitrum itself.

The main driver behind ARB's gains is Robinhood Chain, launched on July 1 after Robinhood introduced tokenized U.S. stocks to European users via Arbitrum One, Arbitrum's main network.
On September 1 and 2, Robinhood Chain generated approximately $1.9 million in revenue from $1.5 billion in trading on its decentralized exchanges within just 24 hours, making it the highest-earning blockchain that day. In contrast, Arbitrum One earned around $16,000 in fees during that period.
ARB's value rose from about $0.11 on September 1 to $0.18 by September 17. This surge followed the ArbOS 61 upgrade, which went live on August 20, and prepared the network by adding optional compliance features for chains like Robinhood's.
Robinhood Chain Allocates 10% of Its Revenue to the Arbitrum DAO, Not ARB Holders
Robinhood Chain's fees reach ARB holders only indirectly. Under Arbitrum's Expansion Program, the chain allocates 10% of its net protocol revenue to the Arbitrum ecosystem. However, this revenue goes to the Arbitrum DAO's treasury rather than directly benefiting ARB token holders.
While ARB serves as a governance token that lets holders vote on treasury spending, they don't have a direct claim to the fees generated. At the pace set on September 1, the DAO's share equated to a maximum of around $190,000 daily.
The nature of the fees is also crucial for their sustainability. According to DefiLlama, a trading bot and a token launchpad earned more on Robinhood Chain that day than Uniswap, signaling that a significant portion of the trading was speculative.
Is Robinhood Chain the Driving Force Behind Arbitrum's 135% Surge?
In short, yes. The layer-two rally, which boosted Optimism by 22%, accounts for part of ARB's growth. However, most of the increase can be attributed to Robinhood Chain, especially considering that ARB outperformed a competing project with no connection to Robinhood. That said, ARB holders can only access the revenue indirectly through the DAO's 10% share, and much of the trading activity appears speculative.
This implies ARB's growth hinges on revenue that could diminish quickly. If Robinhood Chain's daily revenue remains high through October, it could continue to support ARB's lead over Optimism. Yet, if ARB drops below $0.18, its close on September 17, representing a 14% decline from $0.21, it may signal the beginning of a retreat in the Robinhood-driven rally.
