On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 5, 2026, Airbnb(NASDAQ:ABNB) announced revenue of $4.9 billion and expanding night volumes across all core markets. For long-term investors, the key issue is whether structural efficiency gains and platform expansions can support lasting profit growth. Three things management said stand out.
1. Boutique Hotel Listings Drive Traffic and Funnel Guests to Core Homes
Adding hotels expands options for short stays without diluting platform identity. Hotel listings bring first-time users into the ecosystem, and a substantial portion eventually books residential properties.
In fact, approximately 35% of guests whose first booking is a hotel, they come back and they book a home within a year.

2. Automated Support Tools Lower Unit Costs While Expanding Margins
Deploying artificial intelligence software to resolve routine guest inquiries improves operational efficiency without expanding headcount. Lower support expenses preserve capital while supporting higher profitability as total booking volumes increase.
What this means is that customer support cost per booking has declined more than 17% year-over-year, driven in large part by improvements to our AI assistant.

3. Share Buyback Expansion Capitalizes on Robust Free Cash Flow Generation
Substantial cash generation allows management to return capital directly to shareholders. Expanding share repurchases signals balance sheet confidence while reducing total share count over time.
Finally, during Q3, we repurchased $700 million of our common stock, enabled by our strong balance sheet and significant cash flow generation, leaving $2.7 billion remaining under our existing authorization. And today, we're pleased to announce Board approval of a new $12 billion share repurchase program on top of this existing authorization.

Looking Ahead
Accelerating booking volume across international markets reflects operational momentum, giving leadership space to expand secondary services. Management relies on proprietary listing density, direct host communication, and flexible payment arrangements to maintain marketplace liquidity. Executives prioritize overall booking momentum and full-year margin expansion.
Airbnb is back in growth mode. It's rare for a marketplace of our size to reaccelerate growth, but that's exactly what we're doing. Q3 was our fastest revenue growth in more than 3 years.
-- Brian Chesky, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Product investments center on building custom digital tools that integrate travel planning, lodging, and local services directly into the app.
And over time, we want our agent to help guests plan their entire trip on Airbnb all in one place. We're going to start rolling it out to guests in the first half of next year.
