AMC: 3 Key Takeaways for Long-Term Investors

Trade AMC on Coinbase

On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call , held on Nov. 4, 2026, AMC(NYSE:AMC) announced $1.7 billion in quarterly revenue. The theater operator is translating higher attendance into expanding margins while restructuring its long-term balance sheet.

Three things management said stand out.

1. Comprehensive Refinancing Pushes Debt Maturities Into the 2030s

Management refinanced almost all of its corporate debt to eliminate immediate payoff pressures. This pushed nearly all maturities out to late 2031 and 2033, simplifying the capital structure.

We refinanced 97% of our debt, greatly simplifying our capital structure, lowering our cost of capital, gaining credit rating agency upgrades and extending maturities to late in 2031 and 2033, 5 to 7 years away.
-- Adam Aron, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

2. Incremental Revenue Drives Substantial Profitability Growth

The theater chain carries high fixed costs, so added ticket sales generate outsize profits. Management converted 57% of new revenue into adjusted EBITDA, a measure of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, adjusted for one-off costs.

For the first 9 months of 2026, approximately 57% of our incremental revenues flowed through to the adjusted EBITDA line.
-- Adam Aron, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

3. Premium Screen Formats Generate Outsized Admissions Revenue

Upgraded auditoriums command higher ticket prices. Premium large formats, which include auditoriums with enhanced projection and sound such as IMAX, account for nearly a third of domestic ticket sales despite representing a fraction of total screens.

In the third quarter of '26, those 8% of our U.S. screens generated fully 31% of our U.S. admissions revenues.
-- Adam Aron, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Domestic box office momentum accelerated into October. The company is leaning on premium-screen expansions and seating upgrades to increase patron spending, while testing AI in Europe to match movies with the right-size auditoriums.

For the month of October, the domestic industry box office was up approximately 35% and the majority of the quarter's box office is still ahead of us.
