Amplifon investors came into this earnings season on the back foot. The stock has slipped about 8% over the past month to €11.17, even as expectations for hearing care demand and earnings growth remained elevated.
The Q3 2026 release put profitability under the spotlight. Quarterly net income of €9.4m and basic earnings per share of €0.028 looked thin against a P/E of 39.4x and a trailing net margin of 3.1%. In the short term, that combination can pressure the share price. Over a longer horizon, it forces a harder look at whether the current valuation still matches the earnings power investors expect.
Love Amplifon's exposure to long term hearing care demand, but uneasy about paying a 39.4x P/E for thin 3.1% net margins? Amplifon's Execution Story Meets Early Milestones
Amplifon's bullish story hinges on execution turning into durable market share gains and richer margins rather than a surge in hearing care demand.
"The main requirement for this view is successful execution of the GN Hearing vertical integration and Fit4Growth store optimisation so that the planned cost synergies and margin improvement actually flow through."
On that score, the latest quarter gives partial confirmation. Organic growth of 3.6% and a 90 bps lift in adjusted EBITDA margin show Fit4Growth feeding through to profitability. Stronger free cash flow and lower net debt to EBITDA also support the idea that Amplifon is preparing the balance sheet for GN Hearing integration.

Amplifon Bear Case: Revenue Sacrifice Still Bites
Bearish investors argue that Amplifon's margin plan may come at the expense of future sales momentum and execution around GN Hearing.
"While the Fit4Growth program is lifting adjusted EBITDA margins and lowering CapEx, the expected 3% to 3.5% drag on 2026 revenue from clinic closures and market exits (now including India) risks leaving overall revenue growth meaningfully below what is currently implied by premium pricing of the stock."
Q3 organic growth of 3.6% shows underlying demand holding up, yet reported revenue was almost flat as Fit4Growth subtracted roughly 3.9%. That confirms the revenue drag is already visible. Margin expansion of about 90 bps and much stronger free cash flow show the trade off is working financially for now. This does not yet resolve the concern that top line progress is muted relative to execution risk and higher leverage ahead of GN Hearing.
Find Earnings Disconnects Early
Amplifon's latest quarter shows that busy execution can still leave major valuation questions. The real opportunity could sit in stocks where cash generation and business change are not yet fully recognised.
