What happened?

Shares of luxury furniture retailer Arhaus (NASDAQ:ARHS) jumped 2.6% in the afternoon session after investors continued to bid up shares on Piper Sandler analyst Peter Keith's upgrade of the stock from Neutral to Overweight and his price-target raise to $13 from $9. According to StreetInsider, Keith's upgrade was driven by what he called a "very healthy positive inflection" in comparable sales, reflecting both a firmer home-furnishings demand backdrop and Arhaus-specific initiatives after a Charlotte investor event last week. Piper came away more constructive on the strengthened executive team's ability to accelerate product innovation and day-to-day store execution, and argued the company has "notable" gross-margin recovery potential over the next three to four years through pricing power, cost efficiencies, and next-generation technology systems. While the systems rollout creates near-term operational transition risk, Piper expects limited disruption over the next year and raised its valuation multiple to about 20 times projected 2028 earnings — the math behind the jump to a $13 target — on the view that accelerating comps plus system-driven margin expansion can support sustainable mid-to-high teens EPS growth over the next four years.

After the initial pop, the shares cooled down to $11.00, up 2.5% from the previous close.

What is the market telling us

Arhaus's shares are extremely volatile and have had 32 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today's move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 1 day ago when the stock gained 6.5% on the news that Piper Sandler analyst Peter Keith upgraded the company from Neutral to Overweight and raised the firm's price target to $13 from $9. According to StreetInsider, Piper Sandler upgraded Arhaus after seeing a positive inflection in comparable-store sales, supported by both a more constructive home-furnishings backdrop and company-specific growth initiatives. The call followed an analyst event in Charlotte, where the firm gained conviction that Arhaus's strengthened executive team can accelerate product innovation and improve day-to-day execution. Piper Sandler also highlighted multi-year margin recovery potential over the next three to four years through gross-margin gains and the rollout of new technology systems, while arguing the company can navigate those system changes with limited disruption. On valuation, the firm lifted its multiple to about 20x earnings and pointed to a path toward sustainable mid-to-high teens EPS growth, framing the upgrade as both a sales-momentum and an operating-leverage story.

Arhaus is down 3.2% since the beginning of the year, but at $11.00 per share, it is still trading close to its 52-week high of $11.87 from December 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Arhaus's shares at the IPO in November 2021 would now be looking at an investment worth $858.98.
