BlueNord (OB:BNOR) Q3 Results Spotlight Record Revenue And Fresh Losses

BlueNord walked into this Q3 2026 report with a hot ticker, up 21.1% over three months and closing yesterday at NOK620. The headline was not a clean earnings beat story. The company posted record quarterly revenue of US$346m but slipped into a loss of US$19.7m, a sharp swing from the profit in Q2.

That clash between all time top line and fresh red ink is what moved sentiment. Traders saw the profit squeeze and reassessed a stock already on a rich 40.3x P/E, even as the trailing twelve month numbers still show positive earnings on paper.

BlueNord Bull Case: Tyra Reliability Now On Trial

The upbeat story hinges on Tyra and the DUC hub running hard and reliably while BlueNord keeps capital spending lean and balance sheet pressure contained.

"The main thing that has to go right is that Tyra and the wider DUC assets deliver stable, high-uptime volumes, while management maintains disciplined, distribution-centred capital allocation with lower ongoing capex and controlled leverage."

Q3 output of 43.6 kboe/d, with Tyra at 26 kboe/d and base fields within guidance, is a clear operational milestone in that direction. Record revenue, record adjusted EBITDA and lower unit operating costs support the low capex, controlled leverage part of the story, even though the quarter landed in a loss after tax and working capital movements.

BlueNord Bear Case: Tax Drag And Cash Friction Emerging

The concern is that higher taxes and less generous payouts blunt the appeal of BlueNord just as Tyra hits its stride.

"Despite the move to a capital light model with guided capex of US$40 to 50 million for 2026 and about US$100 to 150 million per year from 2027 to 2030, the scheduled increase in the effective cash tax rate toward 64% once tax losses are used means higher government take could absorb more of the benefit than expected and compress net margins and free cash generation available to equity holders."

Q3 already shows early friction. Net operating cash flow was US$70m after a US$72m tax payment, so record adjusted EBITDA of about US$221m did not translate into strong cash this time. The quarter also came in at a loss of US$19.7m despite record revenue, and with no further standalone dividends planned ahead of the Var Energi merger, cash visibility to shareholders has shortened.

Hunt Fresh Mispricings Before They Close

BlueNord shows how a popular story can quickly run into complex quarterly cash and tax issues. The real opportunity is in finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market adjusts.
