The Billerica, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 81 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 56 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share.
The scientific equipment maker posted revenue of $874 million in the period.
Bruker expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.10 to $2.15 per share, with revenue in the range of $3.52 billion to $3.56 billion.
Bruker shares have climbed 20% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 46% in the last 12 months.
