Q: Your gold portfolio is now 54%. Are you going to continue to grow gold, or are there other sources of growth you are eyeing? Also, your bulk deposit mix is over 52% of term deposits, which creates pressure on your funding costs. Any comment on that? A: Yes, gold is around 54%, but we aim to become a holistic bank, not just a gold bank. We plan to reduce gold's share to around 30% by 2030. Regarding bulk deposits, they are indeed higher, but we are building a long-term franchise. Our cost of funds is slightly higher due to this, but we are managing it efficiently. We are focusing on non-callable deposits to manage volatility.
Q: The NIM decline is only because of the bulk deposit mix increase, right? A: Yes, the high cost is primarily due to bulk deposits, FCY, and CDs. As the yield curve improves, we expect some softening in CD prices, which will help. Long-term, we aim to build retail deposits for sustainable growth.
Q: On the yield front, your yield on gold loan has declined. Is this due to seasonality or something else? A: The gold loan yield has slightly decreased from 12% to 11.81%. This is due to a mix of products and businesses. On the SME side, yields have declined as we are being cautious given the current environment.
Q: How should we think about slippages and upgradation? It has been quite volatile. A: The fluctuations are mainly due to the small portfolio size and are happening in the SME segment. However, these are not moving into eventual losses as we don't do unsecured business. We expect some of these slippages to come back in the next quarters.
Q: Why has other income gone down considerably this quarter? A: Last year, we had substantial treasury gains, which are negligible this year. We also took a step back on insurance due to compliance measures, which affected income. Additionally, lower disbursements in gold-related products impacted processing fees.
