Duni (OM:DUNI) Q3 Results Confront A Sharp Margin Squeeze

Duni walked into its Q3 2026 report with the stock down over the past week, month and quarter, and trading on a rich P/E against peers. The headline was simple enough: net sales reached SEK 2,033m while earnings per share came in around SEK 0.70.

The real story sat in the profit squeeze. Operating margin compressed to 6.5% as logistics transition costs, weak German food service demand and a softer product mix bit into returns. For a market already wary of high valuation and stretched dividend coverage, that combination helps explain the recent share price drift, even if today's move may be leaning heavily on fear rather than the full set of numbers.

If you like the underlying Duni business but are cautious about high P/E multiples and tightening margins, and prefer peers with sturdier fundamentals, you can compare this update with our screener of companies that have stronger balance sheets and steadier profitability in the list of solid balance sheet and fundamentals stocks (205 results) .

Duni bull case meets mixed execution reality

The upbeat view hangs on cost work and logistics reshaping earnings power.

"Ongoing cost reduction initiatives, including efficiency work in production and the new long term logistics partnership with expected annual savings of SEK 35 million to SEK 45 million, are aimed at lowering indirect costs and improving operating margin and cash flow once fully implemented."

Duni has restored delivery stability and cleared backlogs, which is a key operational milestone. Yet Q3 suggests this project is still in the investment phase. Logistics related costs of about SEK 25m, weaker group gross margin at 22.3%, and operating margin of 6.5% indicate that the savings are not yet visible in profit or cash flow.

Duni bear case sees early validation on margins

The more cautious story centers on HoReCa volume risk and weaker mix dragging earnings lower.

"Customers continuing to trade down from branded premium napkins and table covers toward private label and commodity products, as described in Q1 with a negative mix and lower share of premium sales, could structurally cap gross margin and limit any improvement in operating margin and net earnings."

Q3 results line up closely with this concern. Dining Solutions margin fell to 7.5% as mix shifted toward customers' own brand assortments and rebates increased. Group gross margin moved down to 22.3%, and management highlights German food service softness. For now, Duni's premium table setting proposition is not protecting profitability.

Hunt For Mispriced Earnings Power

Duni shows how a rich P/E can collide with margin pressure and investor nerves at the same time. The real opportunity is finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market corrects them.

  • Company 1 - 29% below our estimate - converts grid modernization projects and test programs into recurring demand for high-frequency diagnostic and RF testing equipment.

  • Company 2 - 45% below our estimate - rides rising aircraft build rates as efficiency efforts release cash tied to composite component manufacturing and aftermarket support services.

  • Company 3 - 34% below our estimate - turns large AI infrastructure contracts and multicloud database migrations into subscription revenue closely linked to expanding enterprise data workloads.

Those are three of them. See the full list of 194 companies trading below our fair value estimates →
