Gerdau had a concrete win on the operational front when its Q2 2026 report showed revenue of R$17,870.632m and net income of R$1,453.79m, with net margin at 8.1% compared with 4.9% a year earlier. For Gerdau shareholders, the return over the past year was 43.8%, including dividends. If you were deciding on 23 October 2025, what would you have needed to believe about that future earnings path before any of this was reported?
Narratives are how investors here put a case on the record, with explicit assumptions about revenue, margins and the multiple. Those assumptions imply an estimated Fair Value.

The Argument You Would Have Been Weighing Up On Gerdau
The shares cost R$18.19 at the start of the period, so any view on Gerdau depended on which potential outcome seemed more realistic.
The bullish narrative placed Fair Value at R$22.26. That view focused on North American demand, with investors assuming revenue growth of 6.2% a year and profit margins rising from 4.7% to 7.2% by 2028.
The bearish case estimated Fair Value at R$17. It was based on trade barriers and import pressure, with revenue growth assumptions reduced to 3.0% and margins reaching 6.0%.
What The Results Changed For The Gerdau Argument
For Gerdau, the clearest new fact was the Q2 2026 earnings line. Net income reached R$1,453.79m versus R$856.286m a year earlier, and net margin moved from 4.9% to 8.1%. That shift in profitability leaned toward the bullish case that assumed stronger margins, even though revenue only edged from R$17,525.75m to R$17,870.632m.
The lesson is simple. When a thesis hinges on margin expansion, treat net margin as the primary scoreboard and check whether each new result actually pushes that figure toward the narrative's target.
What Gerdau's Recent Run Already Prices In
Gerdau shares are now R$25.22 after a 43.8% gain over the past year, while the selected Narrative's Fair Value sits below the current price. Its argument leans on North America carrying results as Brazil stays weak and key projects face timing and earnings quality questions.
A buyer today would effectively be assuming North American profitability, project execution and cash returns stay strong enough to support this price. The Narrative's concern about Brazilian pressure and delayed EBITDA additions therefore becomes the key stress test.
"The main thing that has to go right is that North America continues to carry roughly three quarters of EBITDA while projects like Miguel Burnier, the Pindamonhangaba scrap center and the Midlothian expansion together add around BRL 1.4 to 1.5b of annual EBITDA after delays, without further deterioration in Brazil."
