Strategy Inc.MSTR used its third-quarter 2026 earnings call to emphasize balance-sheet strength, digital credit expansion and its ability to capitalize on a potential Bitcoin bull market. Management highlighted growing institutional adoption and opportunities to increase Bitcoin exposure through preferred securities.
The discussion also addressed STRC stabilization, capital allocation priorities and the company's evolving tokenization strategy. Executives outlined how these initiatives could support long-term shareholder value while reducing dependence on conventional debt financing.
MSTR Targets Bitcoin Per Share Growth
President and CEO Phong Le reiterated Strategy's objective of doubling Bitcoin per share over seven years, primarily through digital credit issuance.
Le explained that issuing preferred securities could fund additional Bitcoin purchases while directing returns exceeding financing costs toward common shareholders. Management identified lower credit costs, higher issuance volumes and expanding net asset value premiums as key growth drivers.
Executive chairman Michael Saylor expressed confidence in a new Bitcoin bull market, citing institutional demand, banking adoption and the anticipated 2028 halving.
Strategy Strengthens Its Liquidity Position
CFO Andrew Kang highlighted the company's 848,517 Bitcoin holdings and approximately $74 billion in combined Bitcoin and dollar reserves as of Oct.23.
Strategy reduced net leverage to 2.4% from 8.4% in the second quarter. Its dollar assets provided approximately 3.4 years of dividend and interest coverage.
Kang emphasized that stronger liquidity and staggered debt maturities provide flexibility through Bitcoin market cycles. Management also highlighted $21.23 billion in year-to-date capital raising.
MSTR Prioritizes STRC Recovery and Credit Growth
Le identified restoring STRC to its $100 stated value as a central priority. The preferred security recovered from approximately $75 in June to $99.99 by the earnings call.
Strategy repurchased approximately $2.04 billion of STRC and expanded dollar assets to $5.07 billion. Management maintained its 12% annualized dividend rate rather than increasing financing obligations further.
The company also approved daily dividend payments beginning November 2026 for STRC, with other preferred instruments following in January 2027. Le expects increased payment frequency to support liquidity and investor demand.
Strategy Clarifies Capital Allocation in Analyst Q&A
During the Q&A, a BTIG analyst questioned how Strategy would deploy its strengthened balance sheet during another Bitcoin bull market.
Le emphasized perpetual preferred securities over convertible debt as the preferred financing mechanism. Kang added that existing capital could support $10 billion to $30 billion in digital credit issuance without additional common equity financing.
Responding to questions about equity issuance, Le explained that digital credit would remain the primary vehicle for Bitcoin accumulation. Common equity issuance could become more attractive if valuation premiums expand substantially.
MSTR Addresses Preferred Securities and Tokenization
A Galaxy Research analyst questioned the weaker trading performance of STRD, STRK and European-listed STRE compared with STRC.
Le acknowledged the disparities but maintained that STRC stabilization comes first. He also identified European trading restrictions as an obstacle for STRE, while leaving open potential repurchases of other discounted preferred securities.
During a separate discussion of tokenization, Saylor acknowledged unresolved U.S. regulatory and market standards. He expects greater clarity over the next 12 months but did not commit to a specific domestic tokenized offering.
Strategy Maintains Its Bitcoin-Centered Approach
Management's broader message centered on expanding digital credit while preserving financial flexibility. Saylor described institutional adoption, tokenization and banking participation as important long-term opportunities.
The quarter's $20.91 billion digital asset gain supported EPS of $44.75, above the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $21.50. Revenues declined 3% year over year to $125.4 million.
