Naturgy (BME:NTGY) Stock Slips As Q3 Results Highlight Firmer Margins

Naturgy Energy Group came into this Q3 2026 report with its stock almost flat over the past month and only modest gains over three months. Expectations were muted. The headline landed differently. The utility booked €5,277m in revenue and €543m in net income, part of a trailing net profit margin of 10.4% that is slightly higher than a year ago.

Yet the share price closed at €29.66 on 30 October and slipped around 4.6% over the past week. The immediate reaction underplays one thing that matters most this quarter: profitability is quietly grinding higher even as the market leans into caution.

Like the steady margins at Naturgy Energy Group but concerned the market is still pricing in a lot of caution around the stock? Benchmark those results against a wider set of utilities and infrastructure players with the list of solid balance sheet and fundamentals stocks (203 results)

Q3 2026 Earnings Summary

  • Revenue (Q3 2026 vs Q3 2025):€5,277m vs. €4,625m (top line higher year on year)

  • Net Income (Q3 2026 vs Q3 2025):€543m vs. €521m (profit level slightly higher)

  • Net Profit Margin (TTM vs prior TTM):10.4% vs. 10.0% (margin profile modestly stronger over the year)

Earnings are one thing, but investors who care about valuation usually focus on the cash coming in and out of the business over time rather than a single quarter's profit figure.

When you line up Naturgy Energy Group's cash flows against the current share price, the stock could be a clear 16% undervalued .

Naturgy bullish thesis: resilience claims under the microscope

The upbeat story rests on Naturgy Energy Group turning its integrated model and guidance into durable earnings power rather than a one off spike.

"Analysts expect Naturgy Energy Group to keep using its integrated gas and power model, cost efficiency gains and upgraded earnings guidance to support a resilient earnings profile in volatile energy markets."

Q3 numbers and the 2026 guidance lift to EBITDA above €5.6b and net income around €2.2b show that resilience is holding so far. Networks, thermal generation and energy management offset weaker supply EBITDA. A higher trailing margin of 10.4% versus 10.0% suggests efficiency work is feeding through, although softer sequential EPS hints that stability is not linear.

Naturgy bearish thesis: supply and renewables risk check

The cautionary view focuses on whether strain in supply and renewables could quietly chip away at Naturgy Energy Group earnings quality.

"If pressure in Naturgy Energy Group's supply segment persists, with lower industrial gas demand, reduced regulated gas tariff margins and higher ancillary service costs, earnings from this part of the business could weaken further and weigh on consolidated EBITDA, net income and cash generation."

Supply EBITDA already declined to €353m from €500m due to regulated gas tariff provisions of about €100m and higher electricity ancillary costs. That drag is visible inside otherwise solid 9M26 EBITDA of €4.3b and net income near €1.8b. Renewables EBITDA grew only 3% despite extra capacity, so revenue sensitivity to power prices remains a live issue.
