Shares of NVIDIA( NASDAQ:NVDA ) closed at $200.13, while Wall Street's consensus price target stands at $327.14. That target stands about 63.5% above the stock's closing price.
The session low of $199.68 was Nvidia's first trade under $200 since August 3. It happened while the broad market rallied.
Nvidia sells the processors and networking gear that power the AI data center expansion. Its last quarter brought revenue of $96.22 billion, up 105.8% from a year earlier, and its fifth consecutive earnings beat. That record explains why analysts have kept their targets high.
If Washington slows down data center construction, you have to judge whether Nvidia's customers will spend less or spend differently. That answer likely determines whether the target gap narrows.
A $200 Break That Held Only Intraday and After Hours
Nvidia fell $6.56, or 3.17%, from Tuesday's $206.69 close but finished 13 cents above $200. The selling, on volume of about 149.3 million shares, left its market value at $4.83 trillion.
An after-hours quote of $199.80, down 0.16%, kept it under the line. The last intraday dip came on August 3, when shares hit $196.85 before closing at $206.64.
The last close below $200 came on Thursday, July 30, at $195.04. The next day, the stock hit $194.95 intraday and closed at $200.75.

Shares now sit about 16.3% below the October 6 record close of $239.24, which leaves the 2026 gain at about 7.3%. They also trade below the 50-day moving average of $221.20 and the 200-day of $204.67. Some technical traders treat a break of the 200-day as a sell signal, which can add pressure even without a new headline.
Nvidia Fell on a Day When Stocks Rallied
The S&P 500 gained 1.58%, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 1.44%. Chip funds fell anyway: the VanEck Semiconductor ETF( NASDAQ:SMH ) lost 2.75%, and the iShares Semiconductor ETF dropped 3.14%.
Big Tech rose after Democrats' midterm wins. The thinking was that limits on new data centers would favor companies that already own them and ease pressure on their cash flow. Five megacaps, including Apple( NASDAQ:AAPL ), could add more than $750 billion in combined value if those gains hold.
Apple rose 5.31%, and its $5.10 trillion market value passed Nvidia's by roughly $270 billion. Just one day earlier, Nvidia had been the world's largest company.
Investor Steve Weiss said the market sees the Democratic victory as forced control on capital spending. Floodlines Research founder Anna Wu said money was rotating out of the AI buildout.
Lower hyperscaler capex hurts the main supplier first. If new capacity gets tight, the GPUs already installed become more valuable and more worth upgrading, and the power, cooling, and networking vendors feeding those sites keep their orders (we rounded up seven of them in a free AI infrastructure report).
Why Analysts Still See More Than 60% Upside
Even with that large an implied gain, the ratings remain highly positive. Of 62 analysts, 10 rate it Strong Buy, 49 Buy, 2 Hold, and 1 Sell.
Nvidia guided third-quarter revenue to $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%. That outlook assumes no data center compute revenue from China.
Their argument depends on supply limits. "Even though our demand is much greater than 70%, our supply allows us to confidently deliver 70%," Jensen Huang said on the August call.
Results arrive Tuesday, November 17, at 2 p.m. PT (5 p.m. ET). A price target is only an estimate, and $327.14 assumes the politics around capex stay manageable.
Broadcom Shares the Discount While AMD Held Up
Advanced Micro Devices( NASDAQ:AMD ) rose 1.01% to $488.78 after its earnings beat. Its $649.38 target implies about 32.9% upside, based on 5 Strong Buy, 39 Buy and 11 Hold ratings.
Broadcom( NASDAQ:AVGO ) fell 2.00% to $325.48, about 34.0% below its 52-week high. Its $526.81 target implies about 61.9% upside, based on 8 Strong Buy, 41 Buy and 2 Hold ratings.
Nvidia's implied upside is the largest among the three, slightly ahead of Broadcom. That suggests the discount is spread across AI hardware.
What Nvidia Must Show on November 17 to Close the Target Gap
Nvidia's bull thesis depends on supply. Management expects supply to stay the constraint through fiscal 2028. If new construction slows down, the Vera Rubin upgrades will happen in existing data centers, worth about $40 billion per gigawatt compared with $25 billion for Blackwell. Revenue at or above the $108.0 billion guidance would show that demand held up through the rotation, and it would give the stock a path back toward its target.
Nvidia carries $279 billion in supply commitments and expects gross margins to bottom at 71% to 72% in the fourth quarter. If Congress limits construction and hyperscalers trim budgets, those commitments become a burden.
Broadcom's analyst targets imply similar upside. Still, Nvidia's clearer guidance gives analysts more to base their targets on, although its 2.247 beta means the stock tends to swing more than the market.
