Investors came into Sodexo's full year 2026 release with the stock at €59.95, after a steady grind higher over the past quarter. The fresh numbers tell a cooler story. Revenue for the year landed around €24b while the underlying operating margin sat at 3.4%, compressed and held in place by restructuring and a reset of the portfolio.
The real flashpoint for sentiment is profit quality. A €216m restructuring charge and a trailing net margin of 1.3% are forcing the market to decide whether today's reaction is clear-eyed analysis or a mood swing driven by short term pain.
Like the Sodexo reset story but prefer cleaner earnings and stronger profitability today instead of restructuring noise and a 1.3% net margin? Take a look at our hand picked 221 resilient stocks with low risk scores as a benchmark for steadier balance sheets and more resilient cash generation.

Sodexo bullish 2030 plan meets early reality check
Optimists argued that Sodexo's 2030 framework would steadily rebuild growth and profitability through execution on a few core projects.
"Sodexo's Shift & Grow 2030 plan targets organic growth above 5% and underlying operating margin above 5% by fiscal 2030, which keeps a long runway of execution ahead that could influence revenue and earnings."
FY26 organic growth of 2% and a 3.4% underlying operating margin leave Sodexo some distance from these ambitions. Q4 growth of 2.6% and a margin at the top of guidance show the program is not stalling. Yet the margin compression, sizeable restructuring and only slightly positive volume mix underline how much work is still ahead.
Sodexo bear case on execution and cash strain
The more cautious view has focused on whether Sodexo's culture and spending profile would blunt the 2030 uplift story.
"The planned non recurring transformation spend of about €1b, together with a step up in recurring commercial operating expenses of about €100m and higher capital expenditure at 2.5% to 3% of revenue, could weigh on free cash generation for longer than expected and limit the support that earnings and cash flow provide to Sodexo's share price."
FY26 already shows pressure points. Restructuring charges of €216m, other operating expense guidance of about €240m for FY27 and higher net financial expense point to cash demands building just as free cash flow sits at €379m and net debt at €2.9b, with leverage of 2.4x.
