SunCar Technology Group ( NASDAQ:SDA ) expects revenue to surge 26% during the first nine months of 2026, while swinging from losses to profitability, signaling improving momentum in its Chinese automotive technology business. However, the company faces a demanding fourth-quarter sales target to meet its ambitious full-year outlook.
SunCar operates digital platforms connecting Chinese motorists with automotive insurance, maintenance and other vehicle-related services. It generates revenue through its Auto eInsurance, Auto Services and Technology Services divisions, working with automakers, insurers and enterprise partners.
In its November 6 announcement, SunCar projected preliminary, unaudited nine-month revenue of approximately $426.4 million, up 26% year over year.
Net income is expected to reach $5.8 million, reversing a $4.1 million loss during the comparable 2025 period.
The improvement marks five consecutive profitable quarters beginning in the third quarter of 2025.
Auto eInsurance led the expansion, with revenue climbing 32% to $197.4 million. Auto Services revenue increased 22% to $185.4 million, while Technology Services grew 19% to $43.6 million.
SunCar's growth follows expanding relationships within China's electric vehicle ecosystem, including Huawei-linked automotive brands.
Despite the encouraging results, management maintained its full-year revenue forecast of $600 million.
That leaves approximately $173.6 million in required fourth-quarter sales, compared with roughly $149.9 million generated in the third quarter, implying sequential growth of nearly 16%.
Investors Takeaway
The biggest near-term test is whether SunCar can deliver that fourth-quarter acceleration without sacrificing profitability.
Investors should closely monitor insurance renewal revenue, operating margins and cash generation as the business expands.
The company's first-half adjusted EBITDA reached $9.4 million, compared with $2.5 million a year earlier, underscoring improving operating efficiency.
Investors should also assess whether the preliminary nine-month figures hold up in finalized results.
Meeting the $600 million annual target while maintaining profitability would strengthen confidence in SunCar's business model. A fourth-quarter slowdown or weaker margins could challenge the turnaround narrative.
