If an investor had backed Indosat at the very start of 2026, the outcome would have been painful. Holding Indosat from the start of the year would have meant a 20.6% loss, including dividends. That sits awkwardly beside later results that show higher revenue and a much stronger net margin by Q2 2026. So what exactly did the original case for 6.6% annual revenue growth, 10.9% margins and a 16.8x future P/E miss about how this period might unfold?
A Narrative on Simply Wall St is one investor's written case for a company, with its growth, margin and multiple assumptions spelled out. Those assumptions imply an estimated Fair Value.

The Two Indosat Stories Investors Were Weighing
The shares cost IDR2,320 at the start, and Indosat sat between two very different but reasonable stories about where the business could head next.
On the optimistic side, the bull narrative put Fair Value at IDR2,642, 14% above the start price. It leaned on 6.6% annual revenue growth and a profit margin moving to 10.9%, powered by AI cloud services and heavier 4G and 5G network spending.
The bearish script argued for Fair Value of IDR1,600, 31% below the start price. That view focused on shrinking legacy voice and SMS income, execution risk around AI revenue that was still small, and heavier capital expenditure pushing up debt.
What The Results Changed For The Indosat Debate
The clearest new fact was Indosat's Q2 2026 outturn, with revenue at IDR15,432,484m and net income at IDR2,817,606m. That translated to an 18.3% net margin, up from 7.6% in Q2 2025, which gave the optimistic case more help on profitability than the cautious script had pencilled in. Overall, the evidence supported the optimistic case.
The hinge assumption was margin expansion. For any future stock, you would want to compare the originally forecast margin with what later filings report, then judge whether the thesis relied more on higher pricing, cost control, or both.
What Indosat's Lower Price Now Asks You To Believe
Indosat trades at IDR1,785 today, leaving the year to date move from the start of the year as a loss of 20.6%. The selected Narrative's Fair Value sits above that price based on how recurring AI Neocloud cash flows, ARPU trends and balance sheet flexibility are weighed.
This view centers on whether ARPU gains and contracted AI revenue can more than offset higher incentive costs and front loaded network and GPU spending. A buyer at today's level would need to judge that these cash flows comfortably cover those commitments while keeping leverage contained over time.
"The numbers imply the share price reflects limited credit for contracted AI Neocloud revenue, FiberCo proceeds of around US$700 million, and low net debt-to-EBITDA of 0.31x. In other words, the market is pricing Indosat as if these benefits will only partly translate into future earnings power."
