Tencent Holdings ( TCEHY ), China's gaming, social-media and cloud powerhouse, fell 1.9% to $53.90 Thursday as investors awaited AI-chip developer Enflame's September 11 Shanghai debut. The listing will finally put a public-market price on one of Tencent's most important domestic semiconductor bets.
Enflame raised 6.12 billion yuan, or $912 million, at a valuation of roughly $9.12 billion. Tencent's remaining 17.95% holding would be worth approximately $1.64 billion at the IPO price. Yet only 4.16% of Enflame's post-listing shares will be immediately tradable, creating a tight float that could amplify early price swings.
The opportunity comes with a catch: Tencent is both Enflame's biggest shareholder and its economic engine, accounting for 83.79% of the chipmaker's 2025 revenue. Tencent invested 52.8 billion yuan in capital expenditures last quarter as it raced to expand AI computing capacity, giving Enflame a powerful anchor customer but leaving it heavily dependent on a single buyer. The valuation picture adds another bullish signal: the shares trade at $53.90, 22.51% below the GF Value estimate of $69.56.
