Q & A Highlights
Q: On North America, flat development in Q1, is there anything you can say on trading as you entered into the second quarter of the year? And also in terms of inventory levels at this stage of the year versus last year? A: Start of Q2 is a continuation of Q1 trends. In North America, we see an improved trend quarter on quarter, although flat, it's moving in the right direction. Inventory levels are generally okay, with some challenges in mid and lower price points in sport and cargo, but RV inventory levels are improving.
Q: Could you explain the drivers behind the gross margin being flat year over year? A: Price mix is positive, and efficiency gains contribute positively. However, increased material costs, tariffs, and FX impacts offset these gains, resulting in a flat gross margin year over year.
Q: There was a change to Section 232 in April. Does this have any impact on your effective tariff rates? A: The changes impacted aluminium and steel, which are in our products. Currently, we don't see a big impact, and the tariff situation is similar to last year, with no significant reduction.
Q: At what level are you operating in terms of capacity utilization, and what is optimal? A: We are at about 70% capacity utilization across factories and product areas. This is due to significant investments in capacity during 2021 and 2022, particularly in Poland.
Q: How much of the 1.4 percentage point EBIT margin expansion was due to lower product development costs? A: The biggest part of the SG&A reduction comes from selling costs, including development costs. FX impact is minimal, with the reduction mainly due to real SG&A cost reductions.
