Visteon just dropped its Q3 2026 scorecard and the market did not like it. The stock closed at US$81.70, down 3.7% on the day, extending a three month slide of more than 20%.
The headline that spooked traders was not sales. Revenue came in at US$970 million and the company still talks about outperforming customer vehicle production. The shock sat in profitability. Net income fell to US$5 million as warranty charges and thinner adjusted EBITDA margins dragged on what had been a strong earnings story.
Love Visteon's revenue resilience but concerned that warranty hits and thinner profitability could keep pressure on the stock? Benchmark it against a list of solid balance sheet and fundamentals stocks (26 results) .

Visteon bull case: cockpit content thesis on trial
The bullish story says Visteon's cockpit tech and HPC pipeline should start proving that higher content strategy in the actual results.
"Visteon's current pipeline of software defined cockpit programs, including SmartCore domain controllers and over US$1b of high performance compute cockpit bookings with launches starting in late 2026 and ramping from 2028, points to future revenue and earnings contributions that do not appear fully reflected in current valuation multiples."
Q3 shows pieces lining up. Sales of US$970 million and growth over customer vehicle production back up the content per vehicle angle. New bookings of US$3.9b year to date and 21 launches, including HPC programs in China, mark tangible milestones. However, heavy warranty charges and thinner adjusted EBITDA margins show that turning bookings into durable profit is still unfinished work.
Visteon bear case: cost and mix risks bite early
The bear narrative worries that customer mix shifts and rising electronics costs will erode the earnings bridge behind the long term story.
"Memory cost inflation is already running at roughly 2.5% of sales in 2026 with about 50 basis points of EBITDA margin leakage even after recoveries. An additional cost headwind of about 4% of sales in 2027 that may persist through 2029 could limit Visteon's ability to expand net margins in line with current assumptions."
Current figures lean toward that concern. Q3 adjusted EBITDA margin of 4.7% and a 91% drop in net income versus last year highlight how quickly electronics inflation and US$77 million of warranty charges can compress profitability, even when Visteon outperforms OEM production. The lower full year EBITDA and free cash flow guidance reinforces that cost and execution risks are already affecting cash generation.
