Investing.com -- Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) on Thursday reported third-quarter results that exceeded expectations and raised its full-year EBITDA guidance to the upper half of its previous range, though challenges in the polysilicon business persist.
The German chemical company posted EBITDA of €217 million for the third quarter, up 94% YoY from €112 million and slightly ahead of the €211 million recorded in the second quarter. Revenue rose 9% YoY to €1.47 billion, compared to €1.34 billion in the prior-year period, driven by higher selling prices and improved volumes.
The EBITDA increase was primarily attributable to savings from the PACE cost-savings and efficiency program, which the company launched in October 2025, along with a €35 million special effect from a contract termination in the Polysilicon division.
For fiscal 2026, Wacker maintained its sales guidance for mid-single-digit percentage growth but upgraded its EBITDA outlook to the upper half of the €625 million to €750 million range, implying fourth-quarter EBITDA of approximately €118 million at the midpoint. The company adjusted its net financial debt forecast to around €200 million from approximately €500 million, primarily due to cash inflows from selling Siltronic shares and securities.
"Our quarterly results show that the cost-savings and efficiency measures we introduced a year ago are having an impact," said Christian Hartel, CEO of Wacker Chemie AG. "The economic environment remains challenging. In light of this, WACKER has performed well."
The Silicones division reported EBITDA of €116 million, up 35% YoY, while the Polymers division posted EBITDA of €75 million, up 58% YoY. The Polysilicon division's EBITDA reached €44 million, though excluding the special contract termination effect, underlying EBITDA was just €9 million as solar-grade polysilicon remained under pressure.
Net cash flow surged to €476 million from €19 million in the prior-year quarter, benefiting from improved operating performance and approximately €170 million from the Siltronic share sale.
