Investing.com — Iceland's Blue Lagoon is showing that high-end, experiential travel is still a draw. The geothermal spa plans to raise €100 million (about $115 million) in a November Nasdaq Iceland listing.

Still, a thinly traded foreign debut brings currency and pricing risk, while Airbnb (NASDAQ:ABNB) is seeing revenue growth slow as city-level rules tighten.

A familiar name, recently marked down, may be the steadier route in. Booking Holdings (NASDAQ:BKNG) slid to a 52-week low near $146 on sector jitters, regulatory probes and a trimmed outlook, yet still runs operating margins around 35%.

Data-driven screens are built to spot these mismatches, and ProPicks AI added Booking to its Beat the S&P 500 strategy on November 1. Its November list includes an aerospace propulsion maker up 6.1% in November alone, an analog chip dividend leader up 49.4% since entry and a major health insurer up 15.3% since entry.

Scale and Cash Generation in a Choppy Year

Booking Holdings runs Booking.com, Priceline, Agoda, KAYAK and OpenTable in more than 220 countries and territories. Its third-quarter results on November 3 were mixed. EPS of $4.66 came in 3.8% ahead of consensus and 17% above the $3.98 of a year earlier, and EBITDA rose to $4.61 billion from $4.21 billion. Revenue of $8.9 billion, however, missed estimates by 6.7% and slipped from $9.01 billion a year ago.

Cash returns remain the steadier part of the story. In the second quarter the company returned a record $4.1 billion to shareholders, including $3.7 billion of buybacks, and raised its annual cost-savings target to about $650 million. First-half repurchases totaled $7.4 billion at an average of about $173 a share, trimming the average share count by roughly 6%. Booking's shareholder yield now stands at 8.6%, against 2.3% for its peers. Its Genius loyalty program anchors demand, with Level 2 and 3 members at over 30% of active customers but more than half of room nights.

The sell-off has real triggers. An EU court upheld the block on its $1.9 billion eTraveli deal, Brussels opened a probe into fraudulent listings, the FTC is reportedly preparing action over affiliate ads, and the Middle East conflict led management to trim its full-year outlook. After the third-quarter report, Mizuho cut its target to $205 on margin concerns, and BMO lowered its target to $245 on a softer outlook while keeping an outperform rating.

Where the Share Price and the Earnings Diverge

Booking trades at 16.2 times trailing earnings, against an average of 27.5 times for online travel peers, and at 14.9 times this year's expected earnings. Consensus analyst projections compiled on InvestingPro call for EPS growth of 14.6% this year, 18.4% in 2027 and 16.8% in 2028, and InvestingPro flags the stock as trading at a low P/E relative to near-term earnings growth. The shares have lost 21.3% over the past year, while peers returned 8.1%, and the late-October slide pushed the 14-day RSI into oversold territory.

InvestingPro's Fair Value, which aggregates 15 valuation models including multiple discounted cash flow approaches, places Booking at $204.42, 31.3% above the latest price of $155.67. Wall Street is more optimistic: consensus analyst projections compiled on InvestingPro put the average 12-month target from 35 analysts at $232.46, or 49.3% upside, and even the lowest target, $170, sits above the share price. The caution is in the revisions, where analysts cut 13 EPS estimates for the coming quarter and raised 9 over the past 90 days.

InvestingPro's Financial Health framework, which benchmarks companies across more than 100 factors against Consumer Discretionary peers, rates Booking "Great," with profitability and growth each scoring 4 out of 5. That profitability shows in the latest quarter, where EBITDA came to just over half of revenue. Finding Large-Cap Quality at a Discount

Booking pairs high margins and large buybacks with solid upside. The probes, the revenue miss and the softer outlook matter, but on consensus forecasts earnings keep growing and the forward P/E falls to about 11 times by 2028, which leaves room for a re-rating if the overhangs clear.
