Analyst predicts 139% surge for sinking Trump-backed stock

Trade BTC on Coinbase

The Bitcoin (BTC) mining firm founded by U.S. President Donald Trump's sons,  American Bitcoin Corp. (Nasdaq: ABTC), is struggling on the stock market.

Founded by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. in March 2025, the company owns 5,044 BTC on its balance sheet and is the 21st largest corporate holder of Bitcoin in the world.

However, none of such accumulation amid the crypto market crash has boosted the company's performance on the charts.

The company's stock plunged 39% on Dec. 2 when major stakeholders rushed to cash out their long-held shares at the first opportunity after the lock-up period.

Since American Bitcoin made its public debut in September, the company's shares have dropped more than 70% and are under pressure to stop the decline.

But there is one analyst who is still bullish on the sinking crypto stock.

Analyst grants Buy rating to American Bitcoin

Roth Capital  initiated coverage of the company with a "Buy" rating on Dec. 10. Darren Aftahi, the Roth analyst, thinks American Bitcoin has an edge over other crypto companies.

US President Donald Trump (L) stands with his son Eric Trump after playing from the first tee to officially open the Trump International Golf Links course in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, north east Scotland on July 29, 2025.

While most Bitcoin companies fund their purchase of the popular cryptocurrency with stocks and bonds, American Bitcoin goes a step further and also mines the digital asset.

Thanks to its partnership with Hut 8 (Nasdaq: HUT), the company has access to advanced data centers, power, and mining expertise. So, not only does the company increase its Bitcoin holdings, but it also earns rewards on newly created coins.

Aftahi finds American Bitcoin's business model sound enough and Roth Capital set the stock price target of $4.

The target is more than double the current stock price as ABTC is currently trading at $1.67, down 6% in a day.

The $4 price target represents more than double the stock's current level, implying about 140% upside if the analyst's thesis plays out.

However, it's worth noting that Roth disclosed that it previously offered investment banking services to American Bitcoin and Hut 8. It also works with other Trump-connected ventures in various capacities.
