I remember Cathie Wood used to purchase crypto stocks every few days last year. She made sure that her portfolio reallocation always had space for the trending crypto stocks.
After all, Wood is a veteran investor in the digital assets space and moved ahead undaunted by criticism.
When her asset management firm, ARK Invest, revealed that it was the first public asset manager to gain Bitcoin (BTC) exposure as early as 2015, the move was met with skepticism.
As the crypto market expanded in later years, ARK Invest became more confident and began to acquire crypto stocks, such as:
-
Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL)
-
Coinbase Global (Nasdaq: COIN), the largest U.S. crypto exchange
-
Robinhood Markets (Nasdaq: HOOD), an exchange offering crypto assets and tokenized stocks
-
Bitmine Immersion Technologies (Nasdaq: BMNR), the leading Ethereum treasury firm

The flash crash on Oct. 10 last year didn't deter Wood from scooping up more crypto stocks. But after mid-December, she paused her crypto buying spree.
As we entered the fourth week of January 2026, I realized ARK hadn't purchased a single crypto stock since mid-December.
So, when the asset manager finally bought shares of Coinbase, Circle, and Bullish on Jan. 23, I realized Wood couldn't keep herself away from crypto for long.
