Gunnison Copper Corp (TSX:GCU, OTCQB:GCUMF, FRA:3XS0) has appointed Andre Lauzon, former chief operating officer of Hudbay Minerals Inc, to its board of directors.
Lauzon is a mining executive with more than 30 years of experience in mine development, operations and permitting, including large-scale copper projects relevant to Gunnison's flagship project.
At Hudbay he oversaw international operations and major capital projects, led its Arizona Business Unit and directed a roughly $400 million program at Copper Mountain, and he later chaired the Technical Committee at Rupert Resources through its C$3 billion acquisition by Agnico Eagle Mines.
"I had the opportunity to work closely with Andre for several years at Hudbay Minerals, and I consider him one of the most talented technical and operational mining executives I have worked with," said Craig Hallworth, Gunnison's CEO.
Lauzon said he was thrilled to join the board "at such a pivotal moment for US critical minerals supply chain."
Additionally, Gunnison said it has retired its remaining debt following a convertible debenture conversion by Triple Flag Precious Metals (TSX:TFPM) Corp's subsidiary.
Triple Flag converted the remaining US$1.5 million principal under its convertible debenture at US$0.19 per share, resulting in the issuance of 7.89 million common shares. It also converted US$545,753 of accrued interest into 1.64 million common shares.
With the debenture fully satisfied, Gunnison has no remaining outstanding debt.
