For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it currently lacks a track record of revenue and profit. Unfortunately, these high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson. A loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the inflow of external capital may dry up.
If this kind of company isn't your style, you like companies that generate revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in IPD Group( ASX:IPG ). Even if this company is fairly valued by the market, investors would agree that generating consistent profits will continue to provide IPD Group with the means to add long-term value to shareholders.
IPD Group's Earnings Per Share Are Growing
If you believe that markets are even vaguely efficient, then over the long term you'd expect a company's share price to follow its earnings per share (EPS) outcomes. So it makes sense that experienced investors pay close attention to company EPS when undertaking investment research. Shareholders will be happy to know that IPD Group's EPS has grown 21% each year, compound, over three years. If growth like this continues on into the future, then shareholders will have plenty to smile about.
Top-line growth is a great indicator that growth is sustainable, and combined with a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin, it's a great way for a company to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. EBIT margins for IPD Group remained fairly unchanged over the last year, however the company should be pleased to report its revenue growth for the period of 22% to AU$355m. That's encouraging news for the company!

Are IPD Group Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
It's pleasing to see company leaders with putting their money on the line, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. So it is good to see that IPD Group insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. Holding AU$110m worth of stock in the company is no laughing matter and insiders will be committed in delivering the best outcomes for shareholders. That holding amounts to 24% of the stock on issue, thus making insiders influential owners of the business and aligned with the interests of shareholders.
It's good to see that insiders are invested in the company, but are remuneration levels reasonable? Well, based on the CEO pay, you'd argue that they are indeed. For companies with market capitalisations between AU$283m and AU$1.1b, like IPD Group, the median CEO pay is around AU$1.2m.
IPD Group's CEO took home a total compensation package worth AU$637k in the year leading up to June 2025. That seems pretty reasonable, especially given it's below the median for similar sized companies. CEO compensation is hardly the most important aspect of a company to consider, but when it's reasonable, that gives a little more confidence that leadership are looking out for shareholder interests. Generally, arguments can be made that reasonable pay levels attest to good decision-making.
Should You Add IPD Group To Your Watchlist?
For growth investors, IPD Group's raw rate of earnings growth is a beacon in the night. If you still have your doubts, remember too that company insiders have a considerable investment aligning themselves with the shareholders and CEO pay is quite modest compared to similarly sized companiess. The overarching message here is that IPD Group has underlying strengths that make it worth a look at. Of course, just because IPD Group is growing does not mean it is undervalued.
