Bill Daley, the White House Chief of Staff from 2011 to 2012 under President Barack Obama, recently made a career move, hailing the "regulatory progress" made during President Donald Trump's second term.
As per a recent Bloomberg news report , Daley is set to join Numeus Group's crypto assets division, Forteus, as a partner where he will help expand the firm's institutional relationships.
Founded in 2021, Numeus has offices in Switzerland, New York, London, and Mauritius. Forteus, its crypto division, has more than $130 million in assets under management (AUM).
"I'm excited to help bring this emerging asset class to a broader range of U.S. institutional investors," Daley said and praised the "renewed optimism and regulatory progress for the crypto industry in the U.S."
Trump has pursued a pro-crypto policy during his new term and has vowed to make the U.S. the "crypto capital of the world." He not only authorized the establishment of a strategic Bitcoin reserve but also banned the central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
The Trump family itself is involved with several crypto ventures , though much criticized for alleged conflicts of interest.
Trump's combative pro-crypto stance has led to the industry becoming mainstream, Daley's latest career move emblematic of the trend.
Daley also served as the Commerce Secretary from 1997 to 2000 under President Bill Clinton. He has also run unsuccessfully for gubernatorial and mayoral posts.
Not only at the White House, Daley is a veteran at Wall Street too. During his long corporate career, he has served in the highest positions at industry giants like JPMorgan Chase, BNY Mellon, and Wells Fargo.
