Positive Points

  • RAS Technology Holdings Ltd ( ASX:RTH ) reported a 38% increase in revenue for the first half of FY26, reaching $13.9 million.

  • The company achieved a 34% growth in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), reaching $24.6 million.

  • The acquisition in Hong Kong contributed significantly to revenue growth and provided a strong base for expansion in Asia.

  • The LeoVegas deal is expected to be a significant revenue driver, potentially matching or exceeding the impact of the previous Stake deal.

  • The company has launched new products like BetBridge, which is expected to accelerate growth by offering a turnkey solution for racing products.

Negative Points

  • Cash reserves decreased to $4.4 million, reflecting significant investments in growth areas.

  • Normalized EBITDA remained stable, indicating that profit growth has not kept pace with revenue growth.

  • The company experienced a slight decline in normalized net profit before tax due to substantial investments.

  • There is a noted seasonality in the Asian business, particularly with the Hong Kong racing off-season affecting first-half results.

  • The company faces ongoing challenges in managing costs and achieving operating leverage amidst continued investments.

Q & A Highlights

Q: Stephen, a question for you. So this person noticed you sold some shares recently following the issuance of shares under the company's LTI plan. Could you please provide some color on this? A: Sure thing. The shares were disposed under the company's LTI plan and no other shares were actually disposed of. This was done to manage tax liability. All executives and myself within Racing and Sports remain highly committed to the growth and the direction of the company.

Q: Is the LeoVegas deal potentially as big as the Stake contract? A: The LeoVegas deal has the capacity to be as big. It's an excellent group with a large customer base. We believe we can enhance and scale their operations through our products and services. Additionally, unlike the Stake deal, which involved revenue sharing with RBHQ, the LeoVegas deal will be fully delivered by Racing and Sports, allowing us to retain all revenue.

Q: Do you foresee additional increases in costs from this point? Or should we see additional operating leverage come through? A: It has been a period of significant investment in the first half of the year. Some of that will flow through to the second half, but we are focused on finding efficiencies. We have projects in train that will put downward pressure on costs, so we expect the growth rate to slow significantly going forward.

Q: Will the expansion undertaken in the first half largely be done, or will it continue? A: The expansion will slow over the second half of the year, but we are through the bulk of the investment uplift in expenditure. We will continue to invest in the business to have the best products available, but we are also mindful of balancing that with efficiency initiatives to moderate growth rate.

Q: It sounds as though your investment in Hong Kong has really fast-tracked development. Do you see an opportunity to take a similar acquisition model throughout other areas of Asia? A: The Hong Kong acquisition gave us a real beachhead in the region, providing access to Singapore, Malaysia, and other areas. We see Asia as a major growth driver and are open to both organic and inorganic growth strategies, particularly in high-value markets like Japan.

Q: How do you plan to fund the business while it continues to scale, given the cash burn rate? A: We saw the impact of investments on cash in the first half, but expect the second half to be stronger due to seasonality. We have a good base of working capital and are open to strategic opportunities. We will consider capital management as part of strategic growth opportunities.

Q: Could you provide a rough guide on revenue differences from Hong Kong in each half, given seasonality? A: We've done about 40% of the race meetings in the first half and 60% in the second half from our international simulcast product. The product didn't kick off until late Q1, so we expect stronger results in the back half of the year.
