Self-described "dirt nerd" Martha Stewart has a new job: chief gardening officer for Scotts Miracle-Gro .
CEO Jim Hagedorn introduced the lifestyle and décor maven this week as part of an investor presentation at the lawn and garden company's research and development operations in its headquarter city of Marysville.
The title officially is honorary. Technically, she's a senior consultant who will work with Sadie Oldham, the company's vice president of Scott's gardening business.
During the investor presentation, Hagedorn told investors that he had a surprise guest and introduced Stewart and outlined her job.
Stewart then spoke about trends in gardening, the strength of the Miracle-Gro brand and its potential to grow further.
Stewart, Hagedorn and Scotts have a history.
In April, Scotts announced an ad campaign with Stewart called "Gro Like Martha" in which Stewart labels herself a "huge dirt nerd" while praising the company's new organic soil. She also is providing gardening tips as part of the campaign.
Previously, Stewart and other celebrities appeared in a Scotts commercial for the Super Bowl in 2021.
