Eric Trump says stablecoin will be used to settle $2B deal · TheStreet

President Donald Trump's son Eric shared the stage with the TRON founder Justin Sun at TOKEN2049 Dubai in a defining partnership moment on May 1.

Eric Trump announced during a fireside chat that the USD1 stablecoin will be used to settle the $2 billion investment from Abu Dhabi's MGX firm into Binance.

USD1 is a stablecoin newly launched by the World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a DeFi venture backed by the Trump family.

Justin Sun announced that TRON will also be partnering with WLFI. "Transparency is the backbone of crypto," Sun said. "Blockchain technology records every transaction, which will eventually replace outdated and nontransparent banking practices."

The project aims to enable global financial freedom, breaking what Sun referred to as the "opaque operations" of traditional banking.

On the second day of TOKEN2049, Eric Trump stated World Liberty's stablecoin would interact with the Tron ecosystem and would try to make USD1 one of the "most transparent and regulated stablecoins."

USD1 will be a fully decentralized and transparent stablecoin, harmonizing with TRON's tech stack and the Trump administration's blockchain effort, according to WLFI co-founder Zach Witkoff.

The TRON-WLFI partnership might change the digital asset ecosystem by combining political power and blockchain innovation to modify global financial infrastructure, believes Witkoff.

Eric Trump echoed this feeling, saying that traditional finance has "privilege, inefficiency, and centralization." He also added cryptocurrency was a "tool for financial freedom" that liberates people from dependence on inflating fiat economies and financial institutions beholden to governments.

Trump also said, "International transfers via SWIFT are slow, expensive & complicated. Crypto eliminates the need for banks."

Notably, Binance CEO Richard Teng announced a $2 billion minority investment from Abu Dhabi-based MGX on March 12.
