Trump plans rare visit to headquarters ignored by U.S. presidents for 20 years originally appeared on TheStreet .
President Donald Trump is set to visit the headquarters of an institution that no president has visited within the last 20 years, and it has to do with his massive dissatisfaction with a key public servant.
As reported earlier , not only the president but nearly the entire Trump administration has been after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell for not slashing interest rates. Trump has often threatened firing him, but Powell hasn't given up yet.
The ongoing renovations at the Fed headquarters have turned controversial due to concerns raised by several members of the Trump administration.

Now, the president himself is going to visit the building at 4 p.m. EDT on July 24. This would mark the first time in nearly two decades that an American president will be officially visiting the Fed headquarters.
Sen. Cynthia Lummis, one of the loudest pro-crypto voices who co-authored the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve bill, criticized the Fed for going "woke" and, in the process, making the U.S. go "broke."
As Bitcoin surpassed the $112,000 price mark on July 10, Trump credited his tariff policy for the bullish crypto run and asked the central bank for the umpteenth time to cut rates to "reflect this strength."
Interest rates, tariffs, and crypto markets
While Trump finds it troubling that Powell isn't lowering rates, the Fed Chair has often raised concerns over the president's tariff war's impact on inflation. Both these factors affect not only the traditional markets but crypto markets too.
When Trump hiked tariffs on Apr. 2, which he dubbed "Liberation Day," the total crypto market cap dipped from $2.74 trillion to $2.42 trillion on Apr. 8. The moment he announced pausing tariffs for all countries except China for 90 days on Apr. 9, the market began a swift recovery to reach the pre-tariff war level and hit $2.71 trillion on Apr. 12.

In addition, the Fed not cutting rates gives no relief to the crypto market. Due to increasing institutional adoption, it is estimated that if the central bank were to lower rates at least once later in 2025, the market could tap a significantly higher fund inflow.
Earlier in May, crypto entrepreneur Arthur Hayes said the monetary authorities — especially in America — can't handle fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) in the markets, so they're going to resort to money printing. Such a setup is perfect for a rally, he added.
Though the crypto market has gotten used to such macroeconomic pressures and Bitcoin even reached its record high above $123,000 on July 14, a dramatic announcement from the White House or the Fed often sends shockwaves into the market — at least for a few hours before it recovers.
