BRP Earnings: Industry Demand Returns to Growth, but Tariffs Still Crimp Profits
BRP designs, develops, manufactures, distributes, and markets snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and personal watercraft under the Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo, Can-Am, and Lynx brand names. It also builds engines under the Rotax brand (after shuttering the Evinrude outboard engine business in 2020) and offers clothing, parts, and accessories that cater to its core consumers. In 2018, BRP created a marine group, which has largely been divested; Manitou was sold in the third quarter of fiscal 2026, and Telwater remains up for sale. At the end of fiscal 2026, the company sold its products through a network of more than 2,050 independent dealers and 140 distributors in around 110 countries.

The pressure on the stock market was released a bit on Wednesday, as energy prices only inched higher and Treasury yields across the curve were mostly flat. Both oil and yields have popped higher since August 26. DELL was the star of the day, surging 16% after the company reported a blowout quarter. The stock is very close to breaking out of a three-month consolidation that alleviated an extreme overbought momentum condition on a daily and weekly basis.

Gold Miners: Our Coverage Is Expensive Despite Raising Our Near-Term Gold Price Assumptions Again
Newmont is the world's largest gold miner. It bought Goldcorp in 2019, combined its Nevada mines in a joint venture with competitor Barrick later that year, and also purchased competitor Newcrest in November 2023. Its portfolio includes 11 mines and interests in two joint ventures in the Americas, Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. The company is expected to sell roughly 5.3 million ounces of gold in 2026 from its continuing mines after selling six higher-cost, smaller mines following the Newcrest acquisition. Newmont also produces material amounts of copper, silver, zinc, and lead as byproducts. It had about two decades of gold reserves, along with significant byproduct reserves at the end of December 2025.
