LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — Boyd Gaming executives said Thursday Cadence Crossing is off to a strong start in the southeast valley's locals market, but travel trends are still keeping business down at its largest property.

The company is mostly focused on locals, but The Orleans Hotel & Casino also relies on travelers, offering nearly 1,900 hotel rooms. "Destination tourism" in Las Vegas and beyond has taken a step back over the past year-and-a-half. Many people are staying closer to home if they're traveling at all.

During that lull, many resort companies have taken the opportunity to complete renovations, and Boyd Gaming has done the same. In fact, by sometime next year, Boyd will have renovated about 70% of their Las Vegas room inventory, which totals about 5,400 rooms across nine hotels in the valley.

Cadence Crossing replaces Boyd Gaming's Joker's Wild property on Boulder Highway. Land at the site would accommodate a hotel, and more amenities common for resorts, but there is no schedule yet for possible expansion.

In addition to its Las Vegas properties, the company has 18 other resort properties across the U.S. Those properties are currently outperforming the company's Las Vegas portfolio, serving regional customers who live nearby.

Boyd Gaming's Las Vegas properties reported about $332 million in revenue in the second quarter (April-June), compared to $384 million in the second quarter of 2025. Earnings (EBITDAR, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and rent) came in at about $123 million for the quarter, compared to $132 million in the second quarter of 2025.

Renovations now and later

Sportsbook renovations at Sam's Town Hotel & Gambling Hall and Aliante Casino + Hotel + Spa will be complete before the football season begins, according to Keith Smith, Boyd Gaming's president and CEO.

The renovation of the casino and other public spaces at the SunCoast is expected to be complete some time in the third quarter of this year. Boyd officials are expecting to grow market share as customers return when renovations are finished.

Next, a complete renovation of the casino and public spaces at the Orleans is planned. Officials expect to begin that project in 2027.
