Investing.com-- Kyocera Corp. (TYO:6971) clocked a sharp increase in its operating profit for the six months to September on Monday, as the Japanese chip component maker benefited from robust AI-driven demand.
The company hiked its sales forecast for the year to March 2027.
Operating profit jumped 56.4% year-on-year to 65.61 billion yen ($420 million), Kyocera said in a statement.
Sales revenue firmed 8.8% to 86.95 billion yen, while net profit jumped 32.2% to 55.54 billion yen.
"In our principal markets, namely, semiconductor related markets, demand related to data center and network infrastructure remained robust," Kyocera said.
The firm flagged strong demand for high value-added products used in AI data centers, chiefly semiconductor packages and capacitors.
Its solutions unit– which specializes in office document equipment– logged weaker revenue for the period, although this was largely due to the transfer of a U.S. subsidiary earlier this year.
Kyocera said AI-fueled demand was likely to bolster earnings despite increased global economic uncertainty. It hiked its annual sales revenue forecast to 2.12 trillion yen from 2.08 trillion yen, but left its annual operating profit forecast unchanged at 160 billion yen.
