Protolabs ( PRLB ) CEO and President Suresh Krishna joins Market Domination's Josh Lipton to discuss the Trump administration considering additional semiconductor tariffs and the American reshoring of manufacturing.
the Trump administration considering additional semiconductor tariffs and that could potentially make imported data center equipment more expensive. I mean, how if at all, Suresh, could you see that potentially impacting your company?
Uh, you know, where where we sit, we are helping build a sovereign supply chain for this country. We are industry agnostic. We serve all industries. Uh, we do have customers that are exposed to uh, the electronics, uh, like companies like ASML. We provide uh what what is called jigs and fixtures for production. Uh so we are exposed to all industries and as more and more manufacturing comes back to United States, uh, the OEMs need companies like us. We have the ability to invest and increase our capacity. We are sitting on over $150 million of cash. Uh we are a very profitable company, uh and we are investing for our customers. Just this year alone, we've invested over $10 million in CNC machining equipment, 3D printing equipment, injection molding equipment, and we're continuing to able to tap into this growing demand and build a very, very resilient supply chain and help build a sovereign supply chain for United States companies.
Yeah, you know, Suresh, I mean, more broadly, to your point there, President Trump has made, you know, bringing manufacturing back to America really a uh centerpiece of of his economic agenda. Do you see evidence of the of that reshoring happening?
We are absolutely seeing companies getting more interested in making in America and that's what we are there to support with our seven US facilities. We also buy mostly American-made capital goods that help build out what America needs. Uh, we are seeing that happen in rockets, we are seeing that happen in satellites, we're seeing that happen in data centers and drones, we're seeing that happen even in medical devices. We serve companies like Metronic, uh J&J, Boston Scientific in medical devices, we serve SpaceX, Blue Origin in uh rockets and satellites. We are serving Anduril and AeroVironment and Skydio in drones. All these marquee names depend on a company like us because we are the go-to source for supply chain resilience. We are the go-to source that can actually invest for their scaling up. And as manufacturing has grown over the last six months, we've seen the index has expanded for the last six months. All of these companies are looking for a supplier like us to help build out a resilient supply chain.
