Thistle Resources Inc. CEO Patrick Cruikshank joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss the commencement of the company's highly anticipated Phase 3 drill program at the Middle River Gold Project. The 3,000-metre campaign is now officially underway, with the drill rig mobilized, installed, and operating from the first drill pad.
Cruickshank said the program will focus initially on the Middle River Gold (MRG) Upper Zone, building on the success of the company's previous two drilling campaigns that delivered multiple strong gold intersections and helped define a growing mineralized system.
The current program is designed to expand the known footprint of the Middle River gold deposit while also testing the project's depth potential. Management believes the deposit remains open and that additional drilling could significantly increase the scale of the known mineralized zone.
Importantly, the MRG Upper Zone represents only the first target area along a much larger seven-kilometre mineralized fold system identified through advanced geophysical work conducted by Abitibi Geophysics using its proprietary 3D Orion Vision technology. The extensive geophysical survey has highlighted multiple targets across the broader property, providing Thistle with a pipeline of exploration opportunities beyond the currently defined deposit.
Cruickshank noted that the company has integrated historical drilling data with its own exploration results, including detailed geophysical surveys and recent drilling information. This comprehensive dataset has helped refine targeting and improve the company's understanding of the mineralized system.
In addition to expanding the existing resource footprint, the Phase 3 campaign will test new exploration targets located along the flanks of the known mineralized body. These areas have shown encouraging geological and geophysical signatures and could represent extensions of the gold system or entirely new mineralized zones.
With drilling now underway, Thistle Resources expects the program to further define the scale and continuity of the Middle River Gold Project while advancing one of the most prospective gold exploration opportunities within its portfolio.
