If you ask me, a good push-up bra is one of the best arguments out there for the existence of magic. It may not be your trusty everyday bra , but a really good one can conjure up lift and volume in a snap, giving you a little extra boost when you want it.
In this story
The best push-up bras come in a variety of shapes, from light lift to mega-boost padding. They're for all sizes and shapes, whether you have a smaller chest and are looking for added volume or have large breasts and want lifting and shaping. In other words, there's a push-up bra that feels good for a range of body types if you know where to look.
And know where to look, we do! To help you get through the oft-dreaded task of bra shopping, we had 14 bra testers in sizes 30B to 40G try over a dozen popular bras to see which provided the most reliable lift and support. Each tester completed a survey with more than 40 questions, yielding over 400 scores to inform our final bra ranking. We also consulted bra specialists and fit experts (including me: I was trained in bra fitting at Victoria's Secret!) and analyzed thousands of customer reviews. Only then were we able to narrow it down to our top picks, from strapless bras for a special occasion outfit to cleavage-boosting wireless options .
Best push-up bras of 2026
Sizes:30AA to 38F | Materials:65% recycled polyamide, 35% spandex | Padding:Yes, adds up to 2 cup sizes | Underwire:Yes | Colors: 33 | Care:Hand wash
Why we love it:Victoria's Secret is famous for adding a little extra va-va-voom. The secret's in the padding: strategically placed memory foam at the bottom and sides of the cups for maximum lift. The plunging neckline works under a variety of tops, and with fully adjustable straps, it's easy to find a comfortable fit. The smoothing construction at the wings helps reduce bunching and bulging for a sleek look under clothing.
What our pros say:"When I tested it, my bust looked nearly two cup sizes bigger," said Senior Deals writer Rebecca Carhart. "I've honestly never had more cleavage than when I wore this bra." Carhart was impressed with how smooth and supportive the bra felt as well as how invisible it was under her clothing. "That said, this is maximum lift — if you're looking for something more subtle or natural, this might be more push-up than you need," she adds.
Keep in mind:Some shoppers note that the padding may be too much and look a little unnatural under clothing. This bra features maximum push-up, so keep that in mind if you prefer a subtle look.
- Add up to two cup sizes
- Memory foam padding molds to your body
- Smoothing, anti-bulge construction
- May provide too much lift for those wanting a more natural look.
Sizes:32A to 36D | Materials:89% polyester, 11% elastane | Padding:Soft padded cups | Underwire:Yes | Colors:2 | Care:Machine wash
Why we love it:This Calvin Klein plunge push-up bra features a demi-cut neckline, making it a great option for low-cut tops and V-necks. The convertible straps can be turned into a racerback style if you want to hide them under tank tops and the soft padding offers gentle shaping.
What our pros say:"This is a great budget-friendly pick with moderate padding that gives a discreet but noticeable lift," said Senior Style Editor Jessica Teich . "It's made with a super-soft fabric blend, and I love that the straps are convertible for versatility — rare at this price."
Keep in mind:While most find it runs true to size, some report that the cups run large. Some also note that the padding provides a subtle lift rather than dramatic cleavage, making it a better choice for those who prefer a more natural look.
- Affordable
- Convertible straps
- Subtle, flattering lift with a natural look to it
- Cups may run large
Sizes:30AA to 40B | Materials:75% polyamide, 25% elastane | Padding:Lightly lined | Underwire:Yes | Colors:8 | Care:Hand wash cold, line dry
Why we love it:Designed specifically for AA-B cups, Pepper aims to prevent the cup gapping that can happen with standard bras. The lightly lined style provides natural lift without looking overly padded, while wide wings and a supportive band keep everything in place. The smooth construction makes it close to undetectable under clothing and the adjustable straps are easy to customize for a comfortable fit.
What our pros say: We reviewed this Pepper bra and were impressed by the near-perfect fit as it can be hard to find the right fit for smaller breast sizes. "I have two Pepper Lift Up Bras and they're easily the best push-up bras I own," said Hannah Oh , Style Optimization Editor. "I can wear it for hours and the underwire doesn't become uncomfortable at all."
Keep in mind: At $65, it's one of the pricier options on this list, but the specialized fit makes it worth the investment. And of course, it's only available in cup sizes AA-B as well as band sizes 30-40. The cups tend to run slightly small, so keep in mind that if you generally size down in "sister" sizes for regular bra brands, you may not need to do that with Pepper.
- Designed specifically for small busts
- Natural-looking lift
- Excellent fit for AA-B cups
- Great range of color and lace options
- More expensive than many bras we tested
Sizes:30A to 42DD | Materials:84% polyamide, 16% elastane | Padding:Push-up foam padding | Underwire:No | Colors:6 | Care: Hand wash cold, line dry
Why we love it:It may seem impossible, but this bra provides impressive lift without underwire. It has a stiff foam lining along the bottom of the cups, plus a plunging neckline that works well under low-cut tops. The wide wings keep the sides looking smooth.
What our pros say: Oh gave this bra a perfect 5/5 for support and lift. "Between the tighter, thick band and solid feel of the cups, this bra feels as secure as any underwire bra I've tried," she said. Teich adds, "The thin straps and slimmer back band likely make this bra best for smaller breasts, though it does come in sizes up to 42DD."
Keep in mind:Oh knocked off a point from the comfort score for the way the stiff outline that runs under the cups — meant to act in place of an underwire — occasionally poked against her ribs when slouching or bending over. Also, those with larger breasts who need more support may want to consider an underwire push-up instead.
- Impressive wire-free lift
- Great under low-cut tops
- Smooth, soft fabric
- May not provide enough support for larger busts
Sizes:34B to 54K | Materials:92% nylon, 8% spandex | Padding:Yes, thin push-up | Underwire:Yes | Colors: 15 | Care:Hand wash
Why we love it:This push-up bra from Lane Bryant's Cacique line offers medium coverage with thin, lightweight padding that creates lift without adding bulk. The thick comfort band and wide wings smooth under clothes, while the soft microfiber fabric and breathable mesh window at the gore keep you comfortable all day. Sizes run up to a 54 band and K cup, making it one of the most size-inclusive options on our list.
What our pros say: Dora Lau, bra expert and founder of Dora L International , recommends this push-up bra for plus sizes because it "lifts the bust and creates top swell with thin, lightweight padding." The thin padding in this bra provides a natural-looking lift, so those seeking more cleavage might want to choose an option that offers a stronger boost.
Keep in mind: Think of this as more of a lifting bra than a dramatic push-up. It gives natural results and a lot of the cleavage comes from the balconette-style cut that hits lower on the breast. Some note that the band can run slightly snug, which may make it dig in, so consider sizing up if you're between sizes.
- Highest cup and band size available on this list
- Wide and cushioned straps for added comfort
- Thick band and wide wings to support and smooth
- Some shoppers note that the band may run small
Sizes:32AA to 38E | Materials:53% cotton, 36% modal, 11% elastane | Padding:Yes, adds 2 cup sizes | Underwire:Yes | Colors:16 | Care:Hand wash
Why we love it:Similar to our overall best pick from Victoria's Secret, this iteration features the same heavy "bombshell" padding designed to add up to two cup sizes and plenty of cleavage, but it's made to look smooth under T-shirts and other fitted tops rather than accommodate low-cut necklines.
What our pros say:While testing this bra, I found that the cups fit well and sat nicely. "The construction is such that the gore of the bra (the center part between the cups) sits lower, allowing for maximum cleavage," said Teich. The wings, straps and underwire were also comfortable and didn't dig in or poke me at all.
Keep in mind:While it looks smooth under T-shirts, the dramatic padding (adding two full cup sizes) may appear a bit unnatural. And although it's designed for T-shirts, I personally felt that it looks better under tank and halter tops.
- Adds up to two cup sizes
- Smooth, seamless look under T-shirts
- Comfortable all-day fit
- Dramatic padding may look unnatural to some
Sizes:32A to 44H, including half cups | Materials:76% nylon, 24% spandex | Padding: Thin, foam cups with removable push-up pads | Underwire:Yes | Colors:8 | Care:Machine wash cold, line dry
Why we love it:The plunge neckline on this bra works well with low-cut tops and dresses, while half-cup sizing options make it easier to find a more precise fit. The mesh overlay adds a pretty, feminine touch without being overly decorative, helping the bra sit seamlessly against your skin. Ultra-thin foam cups with removable pads let you customize lift and coverage to your needs.
What our pros say:I tested this push-up bra option myself and can say it is very comfortable and smooth-looking under fitted shirts. There's only light padding, so it doesn't provide as much structure as a bra with a lot of padding would, but it creates a great natural teardrop shape. My favorite detail was the mesh overlay, which gives the bra a unique, pretty touch.
Keep in mind: While it didn't offer much cleavage or dramatic lift in my testing, it's a great option if you prefer a more natural look. Also, the cups did feel slightly big for my size and Oh notes that the band runs large as well.
- Half-cup sizes offer custom fit
- Removable pads for adjustable cleavage
- Plunge neckline for versatility
- Tends to run large
Sizes:32A to 40C | Materials:85% nylon, 15% spandex | Padding:Yes, designed to add up to 2 cups | Underwire:No, wireless | Colors:5 | Care:Hand wash
Why we love it:If you're after maximum lift without an underwire, this bra delivers some of the most dramatic cleavage we tested. More than 16,000 Amazon shoppers have given this FallSweet style a five-star rating. The secret? Hand-shaped padding helps lift, scoop and bring the breasts together. The bra also features adjustable straps, a flexible band and a lace-up front, so you can tighten and customize just how much of a boost you want.
What our pros say: This bra first went viral on TikTok in 2020 when user @janette.ok called it one of her top five Amazon bras. Ok explained how she used to work at Victoria's Secret, and the most common request was a bra that would hold the breasts together and push them up. "For the price and result of this bra, I think every girl needs one in their wardrobe," Ok said.
Keep in mind: The wireless design may not provide as much support for larger busts. Also, some users find that the lace-up front, which creates much of the lifting effect, can take some trial and error to adjust.
- Extreme lift from a wireless bra
- Straps, band and corset front are adjustable
- Plunge neckline is compatible with lots of tops
- Affordable
- Lace-up front can take practice to adjust
Sizes:30A to 36DDD | Materials:65% nylon, 35% spandex | Padding:Yes, light foam | Underwire:Yes | Colors:2 | Care:Hand wash
Why we love it:This underwire push-up bra offers all-day support without digging in, making it a great everyday bra. There's light foam padding that adds a slight lift without going overboard and the handy J-hook at the back easily converts it into a racerback for extra versatility.
What our pros say: Melissa Keippel , senior apparel buyer at Zappos, is a fan of the Natori Minimal Convertible Push-Up. She points to the handy J-hook at the back, which easily converts it into a racerback for extra versatility. "Since it has less of an extreme push, it's great for everyday wear," she said.
Keep in mind: A few reviews shared that the bra straps are noisy and may "squeak" during wear, and band sizes go up to 36. Also, although the bra comes in a 30 band size, it starts at 30C and doesn't offer 30A or 30B options.
- Light lift
- Comfortable all-day support
- Convertible straps
- Great for everyday wear
- Band sizes only go up to 36
- Some shoppers say the straps are "squeaky"
Sizes:34B to 44G | Materials:80% polyamide, 20% elastane | Padding:Yes, push-up | Underwire:Yes | Colors:2 | Care:Hand wash
Why we love it: This versatile push-up bra is one of the best strapless bras on the market, thanks to its removable, convertible straps, so you can wear it five ways (traditional, strapless, halter, crisscross back, and one-shoulder). The full-coverage fit helps minimize spillover.
What our pros say:Lau loves this Soma bra "because it's a versatile push-up that gives a pin-up boost with a no-slip back and multiway strap options," she said. Exposed elastic along the inner cups and sides helps the bra stay up, minimizing how often you have to yank it back up.
Keep in mind:Some reviewers note the band runs snug initially, so consider sizing up if you're between sizes. However, a slightly snug fit is ideal for a supportive strapless bra because the band naturally relaxes over time.
- 5-way convertible straps
- No-slip, grip features
- Full coverage minimizes spillover
- Limited color options
- Band may run snug
How we test push-up bras
To find the best push-up bras, we started by spending more than 24 hours researching top brands and consulting industry specialists, including Noemi Diaz-Justino , Vice President of design at True & Co., Dora Lau, founder of Dora L International and Melissa Keippel , Senior Apparel Buyer at Zappos to understand what makes a push-up bra supportive, comfortable and effective.
We also recruited 14 bra testers whose bra sizes ranged from sizes 30B to 40G. Each one was assigned a popular bra to wear for at least 8 hours. We tested bras from the following brands: Honeylove, Negative, Evlyn & Bobbie, Pepper, Skims, Bali, Victoria's Secret, Playtex, Calvin Klein, Soma, Wacoal and Natori.
Our testers evaluated the bra's fit, support and comfort over time before filling out a 40+ question survey, which yielded over 400 scores to inform our final bra ranking. Lastly, our team of expert style editors carefully combed through the data we gathered and analyzed thousands of customer reviews to confirm that our test findings aligned with how real shoppers were experiencing the product.
Push-up bras we tested that didn't make the cut
-
Aerie Smoothez Pull-On Push-Up Bra : A favorite of Commerce Editor Janelle Randazza 's, this pull-on bra offers maximum comfort thanks to the lack of clasps or traditional hooks. It didn't make the cut for our final list due to extremely low stock and it's unclear whether the brand will be restocking the style or phasing it out entirely.
-
Pepper Zero-G Wirefree Lift Up Bra : Overall, we liked this bra for its comfort and wire-free lift. It's a top contender in our Pepper bra review but we found the Skims Wireless Form Super Push-Up Bra to be a stronger, more effective wire-free push-up bra across a wider range of sizes.
-
Pepper Cameo Balconette Bra : This bra was the only balconette push-up we tested. It did a great job lifting the breasts up rather than pushing inwards as many do. However, Oh found the underwire uncomfortable during extended wear. We ultimately chose the bestselling Pepper Lift Up Bra , a more standard push-up, as the best push-up for smaller breasts for its greater comfort and versatility.
Factors to consider when choosing a push-up bra
When shopping for a push-up bra, keep these key factors in mind:
Fit:"When it comes to bras, comfort should always be your top concern. The goal is to feel good all day, not just to look good for a moment," said Lau. If you find that the band of the bra rides up, the straps dig in, the underwire pokes or you're constantly adjusting, your bra may not fit properly. As a trained bra fitter at Victoria's Secret, here's what I recommend:
-
Band: The band should fit snugly without digging in. "It should fit level around your entire body without riding up in the back, and it shouldn't shift or slip around during wear," said Teich.
-
Straps: The straps should be adjustable and sit comfortably on your shoulders without digging in. Keippel also recommends choosing a bra with convertible straps. "It is always nice to have convertibility in a bra so you can wear it for multiple different occasions," she explained.
-
Wire: "Whether you opt for wireless or a bra with an underwire is a matter of preference," said Teich, "but wired styles tend to offer more lift." If there's underwire, it should follow the natural shape of your breasts, cupping them comfortably without poking. "You may need to try a few styles or brands to find the shape that works best for you," Teich advises.
-
Fabric: Look for smooth fabrics like nylon or cotton blends that feel comfortable against your skin. "Synthetic fabrics like nylon, modal or polyamide feel buttery smooth against skin and are sweat-wicking, while natural fabrics like cotton have a familiar feel some love," said Teich.
-
Padding: Lightweight foam or memory foam padding will mold to your body and feel more comfortable than heavy padding, "though there's nothing more effective than heavier padding to give the appearance of a larger breast," said Teich.
Size:Push-up bras can enhance the appearance of your bust no matter your size. "Push-up bras are a great option for smaller busts if you want to create more lift, cleavage or the appearance of additional volume," said Tracey Cohen , owner of Illusions Lingerie and senior bra fitter at Tuck & Bind . For those with larger busts, look for push-up bras with thicker straps or bands for added support. Those features help distribute the weight of breast tissue and offer greater comfort.
Lift:Push-up bras have different levels of volume and lift, so Keippel said you need to decide "the amount of 'push' you want in the bra. A light amount of padding will give you a subtle, more natural-looking boost, while a highly padded push-up can make you look up to two cup sizes larger."
Silhouette:"Push-up bras are evolving with more silhouettes and levels of push-up for enhancing and shaping the bust," said Lau. "Neckline shapes also vary, with curvy balconette necklines or plunge open necklines designed to complement a variety of outfit needs," she added. Also consider how the bra looks under clothing. A push-up bra should enhance your natural shape without looking bulky or unnatural.
Best push-up bras FAQs
How do push-up bras work?
A push-up bra is designed with strategically placed padding that helps lift and add volume to the breasts, creating a fuller look. "It enhances the fullness of your breasts, and depending on the style of push-up bra you select, the lift can range from a gentle enhancement to a more dramatic lift," said Lau.
What's the difference between a padded bra and a push-up bra?
Both push-up bras and padded bras have padding, but their purposes differ. Padded bras have padding evenly distributed throughout the cups for shaping, while push-up bras typically have padding at the bottom and sides of the cups to lift the breasts and bring them together, creating cleavage and a fuller appearance. In short, padded bras add shape and coverage, while push-up bras add lift and volume.
Should I buy my typical bra size for a push-up bra?
You may think that if you want your cup size to look bigger, you should opt for a larger size, but Lau doesn't recommend that. Instead, "fit push-up bras to your actual cup size," she said, so they work properly.
Push-up bras add volume through padding, not by sizing up, so choosing your usual cup size typically provides the best lift. However, because the extra padding can make some styles feel snug, those between sizes may want to try multiple sizes or styles to find the most comfortable fit.
How do I measure my bra size?
Grab a soft tape measure, then, "holding the tape measure parallel to the floor, wrap it snug (not tight) around your rib cage," said Diaz-Justino. "This under-bust measurement corresponds directly to your band size," said Teich. "If you land on an odd number, you might want to try band sizes up and down," she added.
To find your cup size, keep the tape measure parallel to the floor and wrap it loosely around the fullest part of your bust, "ensuring it's level all the way around your back," said Teich. Then, subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement. The difference determines your cup size:
-
1 inch = A cup
-
2 inches = B cup
-
3 inches = C cup
-
4 inches = D cup
-
5 inches = DD cup
-
6 inches = DDD cup
Are push-up bras comfortable?
They can be. Modern push-up bras are designed with comfort in mind, using lightweight foam padding, flexible underwires and comfortable fabrics. The key is finding the right fit. A properly fitted push-up bra should feel supportive without digging in or creating pressure points. Look for features like padded straps, smooth bands and memory foam cups that mold to your shape for all-day comfort.
Can you wear a push-up bra every day?
"With their extra padding designed to enhance cleavage, push-up bras are surprisingly comfortable and perfect for everyday wear," said Lau. According to Breastcancer.org , wearing a bra of any type in no way affects breast health and is totally safe to wear daily if you so choose. Ultimately, it depends on the look you're going for that day and your support needs.
How should a push-up bra fit?
A properly fitted push-up bra should feel secure without being tight. The cups should fully fit your breasts with no spillage at the top or gapping. The band should remain flat and stay in place without riding up. You should be able to slide two fingers comfortably under both the band and straps. The center gore (the piece between cups) should lie flat against your sternum. If it feels uncomfortable, needs constant adjusting or fits poorly, you should try a different size or style.
How much larger can a push-up bra make your breasts look?
Depending on the amount of padding, a good push-up bra can "add one to two cup sizes of lift and enhancement," Keippel said. And a larger-looking cup size is not the only benefit of a push-up bra: According to Lau, women of all breast sizes like the shape and roundness it creates.
