Browns beat writer Chris Easterling recaps training camp Day 1

Cleveland Browns beat writer for the Akron Beacon Journal, Chris Easterling, recaps Day 1 of training camp, July 29.

Day one in the books, Browns go about an hour and a half, one thirty to about three o'clock.

A lot of, extension from what you saw in mini camp.

Watson, was, was up first, Sanders second in the, in the quarterbacks.

Did a lot of two spotting with, Deshaun and Dillon Gabriel on one field and, and Shedeur and, Taylen Green, the rookie, on the other.

Monken said, before pract- Monken said before practice that this is gonna be, you know, they're gonna basically alternate with the two, Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders for as long really as it takes to, to des- to determine who's the, who's going to be the guy, starting.

He said that could go all the way up to-- They don't have to make a decision till September thirteenth, so we'll see.

But, a lot of other, ins-- outside news, about this.

Denzel Ward obviously agreed to the new two-year contract extension.

He, he said, he admitted that, he didn't, take part in the, in the voluntary portion of the off-season and didn't do team drills at mini camp because of the contract.

And then, another one who had, d- been doing that, safety Grant Delpit, right, about twenty minutes into p- into, individual drills, it comes out that, he's, got a new three-year extension agreed to, which, led to him getting out on the field and practicing.

So that's two veteran defensive backs that, the Browns now have under contract.

We're scheduled to hear from Andrew Berry, general manager, tomorrow, tomorrow morning before day two of, of training camp.

So it'll be interesting to see, to hear what he has to say about that and, and a lot of other things.

Browns back at it on the field, at one thirty, tomorrow, afternoon.
