Akron Beacon Journal Browns beat writer Chris Easterling on team training camp Day 8.
Video Transcript
Chris Eastman with the Akron Beacon Journal here at, day eight of Browns, training camp in Berea.
And, today marked the, a, a big moment in, in camp in that it was the end of the install period.
Todd Monken saying that the first eight practices really were all about the installation of things, various pieces of the, of the scheme, both offensively and defensively.
Full pads, for, a little more than two hours.
But a lot of that focused on the run, so as far as the quarterbacks are concerned, Schodorf threw the ball well when he, when he did, but like I say, it was a lot of handoffs, to, to Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson.
Watson, worked with the twos with, D'Oren Jones at the, at left tackle, and that's, with the, the twos for the final, with the, the ones at left tackle.
Both quarterbacks had picks.
Deshaun had one, to, by Tyson Campbell in seven on seven.
Schodorf's was in the red zone.
He was throwing in the end zone to Gage Larvadain, Grant Delpit, came over, punched the ball away into, to Myles Hardin's hands.
Otherwise, I mean, sort of run-of-the-mill.
Like I say, I mean, a lot of work on, on the run game, so it, it, we would call it, you would call it, you know, kind of a ho-hum day, which, isn't necessarily a bad thing for this team.
They've got a lot of guys banged up, especially along the lines.
Both Parker Brailsford, Elgin Jenkins, remained out, at center.
Zach Zenner was, was, rode off on a cart, about, ninety minutes into the, into practice.
No word yet on what that is.
And, a lot of the defensive linemen, were, were, remain out.
Basically your top five or six are, are all out, so that's something that, But it, none of it is expected to be long term.
Some of it just first week of pads, bumps and bruises.
But, back at it again, day five in a row, day nine overall, but, it transitioned into more true, competitive, getting ready for, next week's preseason opener in Chicago.
So for the Akron Beacon Journal, I'm Chris Eastman.
