Heliot Ramos Homers as San Francisco Giants Bats Show Life in Loss
Heliot Ramos blasted a homer, igniting a spark as other San Francisco Giants hitters found their rhythm despite the spring loss.

So taking a look at the San Francisco Giants and, you know, their spring training matchup against the Colorado Rockies, obviously, you know, they would take the loss in this game, losing eleven to three.
but, you know, there was some takeaways offensively, that, you know, really contributed to the, the roster, and certainly, you know, for the main roster, obviously, it's going to be a little bit, you, you know, more, I- it certainly is going to provide, you know, a structure for, you know, what this team, could look like when, you know, things are rolling for them.
obviously, on the pitching front, you know, there really wasn't a whole lot to look at.
certainly, it was just a lot of pitchers just trying to get their work in.
not really a ton of notable players that, you know, participated, but, you know, there still are some to, to mention.
first off, San Martn, who, who is, you know, competing for, a, a bullpen role for the Giants, made a start.
well, didn't make a start, but, you know, he, he appeared in the bullpen, for the Giants in this game, and, you know, he would give up a run.
but, you know, a lot of this just has to do with, you know, players just trying to get in the mix of things.
Obviously, you know, they, they obvious-- they, they try to, you know, just work on things, just, just really, you know, working on different mechanics, delivery, and things of that nature.
And, you know, for him, you know, competing for a lefty spot for this bullpen, you know, there, there's some value there.
but more notably, you know, taking a look at Heliot Ramos, and, you know, he, he was very good this game.
You know, he would go two for two, hit a homer in this game.
and you know, that's what, you know, Tony Vitello would mention, in his pre-game, you know, scrum, is that, you know, Heliot Ramos is a very talented player.
Obviously, they want to, you know, see more of this from him.
but, you know, he is expected to be, you know, one of the cornerstones of this franchise.
obviously, there's a lot of potential with him, but, you know, there, there are improvements that, you know, he needs to make in this spring training.
ultimately, you know, those aren't gonna be deciding factors whether or not he's going to make the roster.
It's almost a hundred percent gu- guaranteed that he's going to be on the roster.
but, you know, they want to see some, you know, improvement from him.
Obviously, the defensive side.
Offensively, you know, they, they wanna see things click for him.
so, you know, there are some expectations for him to take a step forward this year.
Obviously, back in 2024, you know, he was noted to, be in the Alls- an All-Star that year.
but, you know, 2025, you know, he wouldn't see that same success.
You know, obviously, the counting stats were pretty good still, but, you know, he, he ultimately, you know, wouldn't have a strong year, in terms of, you know, some of the numbers that he would put up.
but also just taking a look at some of the other notable performances from this game.
Matt Chapman would hit a home run, his first of this spring training, and certainly, you know, that's something to take note of.
Obviously, he's one of the best, you know, third basemans in the league, certainly on the defensive side.
So seeing, you know, him get his first homer, his first knock like that, i- is something good to see from, you know, the Giants' offense.
And, you know, it, it has been said, you know, Harrison Bader, you know, has continued to have a very good spring so far.
obviously, you know, the expectation was that, you know, he was going to be taking over the center field position, and, you know, he has done a very good job at that.
You know, he is one of the best defenders at that position.
but, you know, one of the things that is very good to see from, you know, the Giants' perspective is him, you know, continuing to hit.
the main thing with Bader is, you know, he's obviously a great defender, but, you know, he would lack, you know, some abilities in his bat, and, you know, you haven't really seen that so far.
He's been hitting the ball very hard.
He's been getting a lot of extra base hits, and from, you know, the Giants' perspective, that's exactly what they need from that position.
Obviously, Jung-hoo Lee was moved to right field, for, you know, the s- the foreseeable future.
but, you know, getting that offensive output out of Bader, a guy who's, you know, kn- more so known for his defense, is very good to see, you know, him hitting, you know, driving the ball, and, you know, really something to take note of, as spring training continues.
you know, the Giants, you know, they, they don't win this game, but, you know, like, like, you know, most games in spring training, it, it really doesn't matter.
You know, these games, you know, don't qui- count towards anything.
So just being able to see, you know, things click for the offense is, you know, something to take note of.
