The Massachusetts restaurant industry experienced its fair share of closings in 2025.

Across the Bay State, numerous food establishments closed for reasons ranging from retirement and new ownership to economic woes and slower foot traffic.

The following 50 restaurants are among those that bid farewell to customers in 2025.

January

Hook + Line in Boston Seaport closed on Jan. 1 a little over a year after opening mostly due to the difficulties of running an independent restaurant and high costs.
My Brother's Place in Arlington was closed as of Jan. 2 after 24 years due to "challenges beyond our control."
Acapulcos Mexican Family Restaurant & Cantina in Quincy closed on Jan. 12 after 18 years due to unspecified circumstances.
Los Chamos Venezuelan Cuisine in Lynn appeared to have closed on Jan. 19 after nine years due to unspecified circumstances.

February

Bertie's Creative Creamery closed both its Milford and Westwood locations after 10 years as of Feb. 5 so that the owner could focus on other ventures.
Betty Ann's Sandwich Shop in Danvers was closed as of Feb. 20 after 72 years citing a significant decline in revenue.

Brothers Deli & Restaurant in Wakefield was closed as of July 6 after roughly 40 years with the owners saying it "was no longer sustainable" to stay open.
Minuteman Diner in Bedford closed after five years on July 30 as owner Diane Cohen sought retirement.

August

Grotto in Beacon Hill closed after 22 years on Aug. 21 with the owner deciding not to renew the restaurant's lease.

September

Bodega Canal in Boston was closed as of September after eight years due to unspecified circumstances.
Flip The Bird closed its Woburn location after two years on Sept. 1 with the owners saying, "We have done all we can think of to get this location to where it needed to be. Unfortunately, not everything always works out."
Bertucci's closed its Reading location on Sept. 3 due to unspecified circumstances. The chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April .

Mainely Burgers closed its last remaining storefront in Boston after seven years on Oct. 27 to focus on other ventures.

November

Erica's Ristorante in Ashland closed after nearly nine years on Nov. 5 due to the owner's health.
Hawthorne by the Sea in Swampscott closed after 80 years on Nov. 15 to make way for new building development.
White Mountain Creamery in Chestnut Hill closed by Nov. 23 after 45 years and will be replaced by New City Microcreamery.

December

The Derby in Salem closed after seven years on Dec. 1 reportedly due to new management.
Lichter & Levin Delicatessen in Northampton closed after just five months in business on Dec. 14 citing a lack of a "financial runway" needed to keep operating.
Daddy Jones in Somerville will close after 13 years on Dec. 20 due to unspecified circumstances.
Flying Dreams Brewing Company in Marlborough will close after 10 years on Dec. 27 citing financial hardships.
Ten Tables in Jamaica Plain will close after 25 years on Dec. 31 as the owner wishes to introduce a new concept.
